I’m not sure where the sense of entitlement came from but could we dial it back a bit? I’ve noticed that since the beta keys started being issued there have been a lot of posts from those bemoaning not getting an invite or demanding to play the game before they support it in any way. This is farcical. Keep in mind that the game hasn’t actually been released yet and probably won’t be until the end of the year. Until that that time you have absolutely no right to participate unless those who are still actively developing it allows you to, and even then it isn’t for your amusement, it’s to test load limits and find bugs that they might’ve missed. I don’t think many of you have any idea just how much the developers have been putting it out there for the fans. Many games in this stage of early testing tend to keep everything under wraps. When beta was announced for World of Warplanes, those of us who participated in it (about 100) only did so because we were lucky enough to catch a quick blurb on the just opened forum and submitted our specs in the twenty-four hour opening that they were accepting them. WoT and War Thunder was/is much the same way. At date the developers have put out many, many keys. Far more then any other beta that I’m aware of, and have kept a steady supply of information coming for the masses.

You can tell pretty much everything you need to know about a community by the kind of posts that are left on the forum, and if these posts are the reflection of the player base then I weep for the game. There are few things worse then playing with spoiled children who trash talk, team kill, cry cheater or blame their team when they get knocked out. I would imagine those who complain because they didn’t get an invite they somehow deserved or because they aren’t allowed to test before offering a voluntary payment fall among them. I’m asking for a little dignity, maturity and patience; nothing else. I don’t think this is too much.

While I’m at it, the Founders Pack isn’t necessarily buying a product, it’s supporting the continued growth and development of a franchise and a game. Think of it as a donation, and in return for your contributions you’ll receive perks that no one else will. If the $120 is too steep then buy the $60. This would be the same as buying a new game anyways and honestly isn’t that much of an investment. $40 is about as much as you spend in a week on junk food and useless things. If you don’t want to buy it at all then don’t, but don’t blame the developers for it and certainly don’t complain that it’s because they don’t let you play first. Very few games allow you to test something before you buy it. Even fewer let you play for free with this kind of quality. If the screenshots, past titles, enthusiasm of the developers, or the information released so far doesn’t convince you that it might be worth it then maybe this one isn’t for you. Just keep in mind that like everything else that has been released up to this point they didn’t have to offer anything.

I thought "founder's pack" was pretty self explanitory. the things you recieve are simply thanks for continued support. I mean it's not like it's costing them anything to give you that stuff.

honestly I would have preferred material collectables over in-game stuff but I digress

as far as beta goes, from what I have heard it's an actual beta. which means most of the people complaining and demanding keys would be most likely complaining about how the game is unfinished and buggy, as if in on a closed beta on pre-launch hardware they were expecting a finished product.

we won't have a good idea as to what the launch day product will be like until open beta, also known as the "stress test, showcase, and polish" phase, so my only demand is that they continue selling founders pack into the open beta, so I can get a feel for their product and decide if I want to support the game further. The primary thing holding me back from any sort of purchase is from what I feel is a lack of information for my decision making. I really want to have money spent on this game but I am going to remain cautious due to past events. ESPECIALLY since I really want this.

Couldn't agree more. People need to stop whining, and realise they aren't entitled to anything beyoned anybody else.

And the new thing to seems "Founders should get beta invites".
No, they shouldn't. Just because you/I can afford a founder pack, doesn't mean we're better testers.

I feel like I am one of the few that is happy to not be in beta. I did beta testing once. real testing. 8 hour days testing a game, trying to find things that "normal" people wouldn't do. I want to play this game for fun, not to find bugs

Excellent post! I cannot believe the amount of people that seem to simply demand beta invites as if they are owed them or something... Seriously the game is on the way and is free to play, what more can a mechwarrior fan ask for?

I guess there is just no pleasing some people. I shall wait in anticipation for either a beta key or the eventual release of the game. Until then my excitement shall build! :)

Good post OP, but I think it's only the vocal minority that whines and complains about not getting accepted into beta. We joke about the "pending fever" sometimes but that is only in humour. Most of the community are decent mature people with great ideas and knowledge about the game, and fixing PCs.

I think you'll find that most founders bought the package to support PGI rather than just for the beta key :D

Welcome aboard btw!

You may have it true for a portion of those out there but there too are those that really love the game world that is MWO.

That said I am of the latter and only want to be apart of what could be a truely awesome oppertunity to help bring this title to the point of release (ala Beta Test) so that all the masses may enjoy; myself included.

If I'm not selected then oh well I'll just play when I am :D But thats me.

Couldn't agree more. It's enough that I have to read the WoW Mists of Pandaria forums and hear people whining about beta keys without having to do the same here. Besides, Beep has a great point. If you're a real gamer, you're balls deep in Diablo 3 right now or WoW or tearing through console titles. This game, like all things kickass, shall come in due time.

Until then, watch the gameplay trailers 40 times and wax your carrot like the rest of us :D

Ha just about to put them back in that Vice, had to tear them away from BF3 after the 2X XP weekend. And if anyone is that desperate for Mech action right this second why not go give living legends a go, or track down a copy of Chrome hounds.

+1 on this. Well said. Entitlement seems to be the way the world is headed. Everyone else fund it and they want it all.

Folks we all have waited over 10 years for this whats a few more months. We as players are not owed anything for a free to play game. As I see it the longer they keep the game in Beta the better off the game will be when released to the public. Lets not have MO go the road WoT did that game still has a host of major problems and the biggest is letting third party player written mods used ingame. Big NO NO. Piranha please DO NOT allow this to happen.

Too bad chrome hounds single player sucks and no one plays it anymore. On top of that mwll is very boring buggy and sometimes flat out stupid not to mention it has been taking them forever to release new assets. there has not been a good mech game in prob 5-6 years at least.

Seriously it's a $120... I've wasted that 100 times over on things I like far less then mechwarrior, no one is making you pay it, and anyone who loves and is dedicated to this game will have no problem parting with the money.

What's more, you get THREE months Sub, which is probably worth $45-60 that you probably would have paid for, and $80 worth of in game currency. There's your moneys worth AND you get more benefits such as the Founder Mechs and titles.
