I was thinking that improved jumpjets where it gives you some directional for it but it doubles the weight of what ever jumpjet class it is as a upgrade like endo-steel and ferro

Greetings,

Quite a bit has been posted, over time, about the effect, use, size and types of jump jets in MWO. Design has changed a few times since early alfa and the reduction of thrust multiplier for the number of jets the Mech actually has.

There are currently 4 class's of Jump Jets, each weighing different amounts and suited for each class of Mechs with their thrust output. Within the game now, numerous calculations are taken when the jets are fired. Adding thrust vectoring is a little too much for what the Mech's can compensate for now. Adding directional thrust doesn't have to alter the position of the nozzle, it could be as simple as directional flaps at the exhaust ports. Not a heck of a lot of change but they also need to be battle hardened structures.

- Although having torso mounted jets and turning the Mech's upper body does cause it to rotate during flight hops.
- The game doesn't seen to include any twisting impacts for the feet or legs on landing from this type of jetted turn, which it should. (simulating a roll to stay standing on landing) Lots of complicated math and physics happening here, well not really, but still.
- until we see knock down and falling introduced (again) having directional jets won't really matter much
- Even the animations for the Mech's now is not correct when the jets fire, some Mech's straighten there legs, others raise there's.

You're not the first to make comments about JJ's and probably won't be the last. It is what it is, for now. And PGI has much bigger fish to fry before they look a these items, again.
