Basically listing out coordinates for an alive teammate is a reportable offense, yes. Even if the guy is doing what you are saying, hiding in the boondocks powered down.

Listing out coordinates for any remaining d/c teammates is IIRC at this time not a reportable offense, as there is no way the d/c player can rejoin the game, and it helps to release all players.

So if there is any doubts on whether a guy is AFK or d/c, best not to say out the location. What you think of his approach (honourable, wasting time, etc.) is irrelevant, really.

You were correct in what you did. I have even read where paul said it is against the spirit of the game to run off and power down just to avoid a death and draw out a match. Sorry Lynx7725 but what his teammate did IS A REPORTABLE offense; so lets just say calling out the coords saves everyone time and his *expletive deleted* teammate should be banned and not you.

Afaik it is against the rules to call him out but like varik said, running away and refusing to play the game is against it, too.

So what to do? I had plenty of such matches, and even with players I know and who I think are "good" players in (terms of not being trolls).

What I always do is to try and convince them to fight or at least die with a spectacle to entertain the rest of us. I think this works in maybe 4/10 cases.

But I stopped calling them out to the other team if it is not a disco. And I noticed that more and more players hesitate doing so, maybe fear of bans or I don't know (even if I don't know anyone who got banned because of such a violation).

In the end, even if you tell the coordinates it is not save they'll get him and you are just more frustrated after 6 more minutes.
Best reaction should be to quit the match imho and save trouble and nerves.

It is also against rules of brotherhood to narc out your living team mate. Taking a kill away from you enemy is a moral victory.

Yes you were in the wrong according to rules. Of course so was he and a time wasting coward to boot.

Best thing you can do is leave the match and start up a new one. It may mean you don't get to see a proper match result screen but it saves you on both the moral high ground and your blood pressure.

If he was the last team mate standing and just a zombie he was not a coward. I personally don't have the patience to wait out the clock, but if my team mate can steal a kill from the enemy, That is a very small win for my side.

It is not a moral victory, it is cowardice and should be reported as it breaks the spirit of the game. You fight with your teammates and you die with them. The only excusable exception is on conquest where living could ensure the victory. Otherwise tell his coords if he powers down to just power down so he wont die.

Look I have said the coords to at least a dozen guys who did the same as that guy did and never once did I get a ban. I was asked to explain myself but I never got in any trouble. (always take screenshots for evidence)

Maybe on someone I consider a proper teammate and have a preexisting relationship with. Even a respected enemy would work here. But some random Dbag the matchmaker threw at me that I'm likely to never see again and if Ido it's just as likely to be on the otherside of my cross hairs that time?

That guy can sit and spin for wasting everyone's time.

I've attempted to headbutt my way to victory when stripped before. He can do it too.

And you can bet I'd have a few words for a proper team mate that did the same thing.

Against morals to tell on an active player. even if he shuts down. full stop. He is active until disconnected or killed!

There is a game timer on top, in the worst case the game take 15min. Live with it.

Would you mind posting a link to said post? I can't find it in Pauls history for the past six months!

Reporting the position of a player of your team to the other team is Team Treason and a reportable offense. It is not acceptable. In the case of disconnected players it is an offense with no consequence (yet, it will change once we get the possibility to reconnect), but technically it is still forbidden.

Your take or opinion of the rules do not matter. You agreed to abide by the rules when you signed up for MWO, as they are part of the game.

Closing this thread as it is discussing and therefore promoting active rule violations.
