Before you start hating, please read.
My logic behind this is quite simple really. I used the Dragon-N5 with x2 AC5 and 1 AC2. I put 1 AC5 into a group with the AC2. Then I put the other AC5 into another group. Then I fire both groups which creates a imitation of "burst-fire".
Why bother? Because when I am moving about in my Dragon I have to be more careful with my shots as I do not have the ammo supply like larger 'Mechs thus I must make sure that my shots count more pr shell (maximize damage). Since I cannot stand around and take damage like every other 'Mech around I have to continue moving and chainfire is out of the option as it takes too long to cycle each weapon.
Further explained:
Maximizing the amount of damage I can do while exposing myself as little as possible I had to come up with a technique that allowed me to fire and then move on to the next target while still retaining a good resemblance of accuracy. Thus I simply switched some groups about and dumped all my alternative weapons for more ammo and guns. It works for me, maybe it could work for you?
