"Hang on until..." could pretty much be the official MWO slogan, when you think about it.

HA back in the late 90s, early 00's a game called IL2 Sturmovic was run by russians, and the buzz word reply from them about getting to problems was "two weeks, be sure"

"Hang on until......" love it

Hang on until because shutup

maybe MWO will send out emails to all those inactive players saying we fixed it.
Like I still get from long dead games about coming back we have a new plane on sale, and we fixed *

not seeing that in the least
If you're on a 12 man that must feel good having one of those stomps, like outsmarting a ******* cat playing three card monte

Everything comes at a cost. The price of getting good communication and cooperation is communicating and giving commands with reason to obey (if they are resistant).

From "Am I a bad person?"

Truth be told, I frequently communicate in matches. Especially if I'm not in a heavy mech. Providing communication sets forth the seeds for receiving communication.

The difference in responses has been quite genuine. If you say the other side is a 12 man team (or someone else says it), everyone seems to instantly get on board with an actual plan. In order for that to happen however, you have to provide a plan and a reason to follow it.

For me, before if I gave all that, I'd just "beep you" or "shut up." After, the responses have been either positive and obeying, questioning, or a report of being unable to do it.

Positive responses have been things like "Will do" "omw" "rgr" "got it" "already doing it" etc.
Questioning has been "Why?" "Why not just climb the mountain like normal?" (Because then they have the high ground and it'll take longer to get there than we have time. Up here, we have higher ground than theirs and it won't take but a minute). "Why do you need me over there?" (Because your ECM will make me invisible to the turrets and help me destroy them to protect our guys on the mountain).
Unable (or unwilling) is pretty straight forward. "Busy" "Engaged" "[grid square]" "fighting" "escorting" "can't do" "not interested" "n/a" "n/i" "nope" "not equipped" "n/e" etc. Which sucks, but hey at least they were kind enough to tell me they didn't want to.

The difference between before and now is before I'd get told off if I tried to be commander (unless I was recognized). Now, if I say "12 man on the other side" and "I have a plan" I get 8 to 11 cooperating players. And those not cooperating either die or quickly want to follow after I get 1 to 2 kills and dish out orders to intercept enemies that are running away. (No one expects a 97 kph iight mech to be so deadly or so hard to kill, especially when they read "MPL, SL,SL, MG, MG, MG, MG".)

I had a fantastic game on Mordor yesterday. Apologies for not remembering coordinates.

Started off with me asking "go around, or go through mid?" and someone replied "I've had better luck going around" to which I then mapped out a very easy strategy for my team.

"Meet at [Grid Location]. Stick together ~50 kph death ball."

Once we got to [Grid Location], I asked for scouting "lights please scout for the enemy" and one of them came back and said "[basically other side of the map not in the circle coordinate]".

So I said "alpha and charlie lances, cut through and start poking front." at this point I noticed there was a banshee on my team who was doing his own thing, so I took bravo lance and covered him, then used Bravo to flank the enemy.

Everyone on both teams started doing their "poke poke poke not committing" thing, so I told myself "time for the sacrifice" and came in behind and started catching all of the enemies attention. I managed to do a good job torso twisting because it took me a good minute of jumping around (SHD-2D2 streakboat with XL engine) to die, and in that time, Alpha/Charlie lances came up front and Bravo came in from the side. My fool's run was the initiate we needed and my team ended up with a 12-2 win. My team every said "gj team" and "gg team" in team chat after the win. I really felt great about coordinating that effort.

Obviously , Because Premade vs PuG lance the chances of winning are probably 70-30 in favour of the premade , so if you have a premade on the opposite team kill them first to make sure maximum chance of a ROFLstomp , Why the 2 should of never been mixed man this subject really grinds my gears . GGclose pgi GGclose.

Is it irony that you're using the LORDS tagline of 'ggclose,' possibly the worst offenders of your labelled "meta abusers" to poke at PGI?

And, while you'll see fewer Victors when teams like lords run, you'll still see AC5/PPC capable mechs. Instead, you'll just see:

3 Dragonslayers and a Cataphract 3D
2 Dragonslayers and 2 ERLL Raven 3L's

Or some combo of those mechs...they're already running them in practice, lol. Just because you won't see 4 Victors at once doesn't mean 3/3/3/3 is going to magically save you from your perceived premade threat.

Just sayin'.

The sad thing is that some of these 12 man groups are still losing 3-5 mechs while stomping a complete pug.

Or even losing entirely - there has been a screenshot or two posted in the Bragging thread (or was it Carry Harder?)

Just finished one of those. And usually when I'm on a chatty team, we just talk about **** and alcohol. Somehow, we win those drops.

Edit: Hmm, the Tee Eye Tee Ess word is a bad word.

Had a few bad matches last two days. But eh, thats not unusual. Had one tonight where roughly 5 of my team was actually looking at the radar and trying to seek the enemy. The other 7, which sadly was two atlas, a battlemaster, jager and I think hunchie and whatever, while the aware was a cicada, my Protector, and some lights. We were on Alpine, and didnt go up the hill(even though we were on that side of the map) and went down south road.

i was pleased at first, I hate Hamburger Hill. We got to the bottom of the mountain on the south road, and discovered some enemy in the long ravine, blew away a Illya, and scared off a jager and a spider.

Then i see our jenner, on top of the mountain with a hunchie in its sights. I backpedal up the south road a bit, and tell jenner to try to draw him to the edge so we can blast him. Jenner cant convince HBK to run to the slope, but Kintaro goes full on, misses the edge a little and ski slope slides right down 200M in front of me. LOLBLAST. Lights converge, HBK then joins in, and then a shadowhawk with streaks. There are now 5 of us, though we are light(besides me) and 3 of them...no wait 4 now...wait 5? Big OL fuzzball going on.

I eventually get quadruple teamed, though I put down the kintaro during the fray and legged the shadowhawk, exposed one side torso. Got a few in on HBK too. Our lights took a beating, one is down, jenner and a raven are fighting. Now its 7 of them, vs 3 of us. See, even though the radar had been flooded with red triangles and multiple targets, our Atlas posse decided to march towards the base. Yes, the giant fuzzball started less then 300M behind them, and they just moved on out. The rest of the match was just painful to watch, the two atlas, i am not sure they had a HUD running, their team mates got picked off one by one by enemies 150M from them as they tried to fire ML at stuff 600M away, ignoring the radar completely. I observed battlemaster, he put up a good fight, unsupported, and as he was cored(got triple teamed though he got one of the mediums he was fighting) his Atlas pal had his back to him not even 100M away. A boarshead, firing 3 MPL at a jager on a ridge way out using PPCs.

But, those matches like that, I can count on one hand from the last few nights. Most have been at least decent, and many have been really solid fun. I had one on mordor, I bought one of the last two dragon variants(mastered fang, flame, and 1...C? I forget like last year in the spring) I put off forever, 1N I think. Loaded it with ppc in arm, ppc in torso, ac10 in other arm, 12 DHS and XL300. It runs hot, and not as fast as some, but is wicked fun on chain fire with a potent alpha down range on unaware targets. I dropped for it's second match on mordor, and team and enemy team was cracking jokes right up until shots fired. Match started out as around the ring flanks, but as we got a small lead, the enemy bigguns went into the ring to defend. We assaulted through 2 different doors with much smaller force, but with bigger numbers. banshee and atlas and a spider were at the door I was near, with a SHD and Tbolt up front as i finished off a catapult with another SHD well below. I went up the hill to assist my team assaulting the door, got a few solid strikes in, and then Banshee saw me. He had a dakka loadout, and some lasers, and went to town on my fat face(the ol truck hood CT of dragons) I retalliated with alpha strike, but he had the better of me. Team mates had gotten distracted by spider that jumped over our heads and was trying to shoot us in the back(didnt last long) so I had Banshee attention all on me. I ended up overheating in a desperate alpha to try to blow his exposed side torso, but I must have fell a few points short because he kept it. "Oh man, thats it for me" As I am getting plugged, betty yelling at me about critical this and that.

Then, T bolt sees whats going on, and litterally walks in front of me as a shield and eats banshee fire for 3 seconds while I restart. he litterally saved my ass, no chats or VOIp or anything. He of course was firing at banshee too, at point blank face to face. Banshee got thrown off his pace, prolly with the bloodlust in his eyes after all the wrecking I did to him that he couldnt finish me while I was so close. He throws it in reverse, T bolt had come to a stop, and had torso twisted to the far left so he likely didnt see the banshee back off as he was trying to spread out dmg to now save his own hide. It was too late for banshee now, he had his CT open now, and soon as he got 5M in between himself and my tbolt savior I alphastriked his ass into oblivion. Overheat again, but no matter, it was down, and we both were up. dust ourselves off, and push in to attack atlas that was distracted on other side of the ring.

it was a great match, and most said as much at the end. A match like that can make up for 2 terribad ones IMO, especially when the majority had been decent to begin with. So put me in the boat with others here that have seen a solid improvment in quality of fun lately.

On the whole I have had a lot better experience, had a definate 12 man premede stomp, probably more, but only one that really took us PUGs apart.
Previously, one day was terrible, one day was great, now the stomps still happen but every time I have the time to play there are more good matches than not. A lot more consistently enjoyable.

I am hopeful.

Even if the matchmaker patch flops today I had a great time playing in private lobby Stock Mech matches last night. Trying to work the standard weapons on a shadowhawk 2H was a change from a dakka build.

I have had the opposite experience, having seen more 12-0 matches the last week than the previous 3 months. I drop solo about half the time and half in 2-4 groups. Previously if I was part of the winning team it seemed like a great accomplishment. A 12-0 win should be a rarity, but I don't think the matchmaker or 3-3-3-3 will help.

Variables between the teams are: mechs, individual pilot skill, teamwork between the pilots and IF they have teamwork the effectiveness of their tactics. Even without 3-3-3-3 working most mech loadouts seem close (2 light 2 med 5 heavy 3 assault). ELO covers pilot skill and hasn't changed to my knowledge. That would mean 12-0 is happening more often because of team coordination and tactics.

I like the idea that teamwork is improving, but a quality match will only happen if both teams coordinate well. Maybe the first thing each team should do on drop is start communicating....not everyone will buy-in, but enough might.

Later today, or that whatever it was patch this afternoon? 2014?
I have not see but a couple of the "issues" fixed. And those were SO simple they should have been hotpatched days ago.
The bulk of the patch was more "to buy" crap.

If you do want to have fun matches in the meantime I would reccommend putting together some private matches rather then go solo drop or 4-mech against the 12-mech teams dropping onto the same battlefield.

Don't write off the game due to a temporary glitch. Hope to drop with you back in public matches after May 6th!

The patch seems to have worked. Still grumpy though.

getting the opposite effect...before todays patch i was almost always in competitive matches...since the patch today I've been on the losing end of 4 consecutive 0-12 steamrolls...

plus my armor now seems softer than wet toilet paper...tag lasers seem to core me before a single LRM can even get to me
