I'm wondering if this is just me, but I've noticed some odd SRM behavior on my Centies (particularly the CN9-D). I've got two ASRM6 on there. Here's what happens:

-If I have them set to group fire, there's an approximate 1 sec delay before they fire.
-If I have them set to chain fire and hold down the button, it behaves the same as above.
-If set to chain fire but I tap the button, the *fire* pod will have a one second firing delay. Second pod fires as soon as the button is pressed, provided the first pod is still on cooldown.
-If I continue firing (i.e., the second pod is on cooldown when I try to fire the first again) it will fire instantly.
-If, after firing, I allow all cooldowns to expire before firing again, original behavior resumes.

Is this an old bug that I'm just now noticing (since I haven't used SRMs in a very long time) or is this just me? Has anyone else seen similar behavior?

The Cents have missile bay door. The delay you're seeing is the bay doors opening before the missiles can fire.
You can open the doors (with the "/" key I think?) and they'll stay open for the match.

Mechwarrior Tynan,

The CN9 chassis has several small blast doors protecting the launcher in the left torso. The behavior you are seeing is the delay from the doors being opened just like Mechwarrior Leroifou has stated before. Leaving them open exposes the launcher to damage where keeping them shut prevents a small amount of damage to the launcher. I have asked my techs about this and why all mechs do not have these launcher doors, they always just shrug and walk away mumbling about lanes and why mechwarriors have certain ones and techs others.

Good luck.

Corporal Woolf signing off...

Yup, there's a little light somewhere in your cockpit (usually on one of the A pillars), green for open, yellow for closed.

I...don't think I have any mechs with bay doors. Didn't even think of that. Feel sort of stupid, but at least there's a rational answer. Thanks!

Fell for the same trap when I had that free cent. Bay doors are silly imo when the game "feels" exactly the same when you shoot at a mech's launcher without doors. Get pounded in my treb's launchers all the time and keep on truckin.

I don't remember the last time I've seen the missile doors get shot off of something before the section was destroyed. Closed Beta, I think? Does it actually still happen?

You do get a 10% defense bonus to that armor location with the doors closed though. Am I remembering that right?

Nothing stupid on your end. Just one of the many inane things that don't get explained at all unless you come to the boards.

I believe it was a 10% internal component HP....which means 11 instead of 10?

That doesn't sound right.

I only opened the door on my Cent, and I haven't run it in a long time. I imagine it still does, but?

As far i recall the only mechs with door are.

Catapults
Centurions
Stalkers
and not 100% sure some Trebuchet variant

You can add Kintaro to that list (they have mixed launchers though - some with some without doors)- don't think any of the buckets have doors though.

No on the Trebs, but most Kintaros have missile doors.

It is 10% damage reduction to the armor location. You can test it in Testing Grounds with the Catapults, specifically the A1. It has 40 armor on each arm. It would normally take four hits with an AC/10 or PPC in optimal range to completely strip the armor without damaging internals. It will take five hits on the A1's arms because you are only doing 9 damage per hit.

Moral? Keep those doors closed on the Kintaro's CT until you need to fire!

Golden Boy, KTO-18 and KTO-19 all have missile doors. The KTO-20 is the odd one out.

Hurray for poorly documented "features"! Seriously though, they should either remove the LRM doors on those mechs that have them, or make the default "open", so it becomes only a conscious strategy to close them.

Which implies that all 3 have CT doors - small wonder PGI expected the original hitboxes to be fine. ;)

Don't worry, lots of people (including me) have said lots of four letter words due to those doors. Even when you know about them they will still aggravate you because you have to remember to toggle them open. Every. Single. Match.
