No way - that's just lazy piloting; if you are a good pilot you should be able to adapt your tactics to the map you are on. If you are rubbish and lazy you won't and you die quickly. Besides, I used to hate some maps until I gain more experience and now they are my favourites because I have found how to work them to my advantage irrespective of mech type & loadout.

Dear god, could you imagine it? So many people would avoid TerraTherma... why? Because they are lazy and just spam the fire key without thinking.

Big NO from me!

terra therma is one of my favs.

i thought about forest colony and frozen city (blizzard). in both maps you see a shiet :)
(yes, i know - thermal vision and so on...)
but it kicks win/loss too.
no idea how, but on this maps i got 0,6 -0,7~ win/loss ratio..and it feels like...
would be more fun to avoid crap. and i think nearly everyone got a map he perform bad at.

Learn to master the maps you are bad at instead.

Everything else is looking for an easy way out. :)

Mechwarriors do not get to choose where they will be dropped. Be glad that you have the luxury of a stable of battlemechs to chose from as most mechwarriors are assigned their mechs at the discretion of the Commanders. Be happy that your mechs are replaced at no cost when you are destroyed and that you do not become dispossessed. Master your mechs, know their limitations, understand the environment. If we could just request all of our combat drops the Successor States would fight over only the prettiest worlds and we would have no use for battlemechs as each army would battle with drinking songs and poker games.

I want this ingame so badly, but I'm afraid it would just knock TT and Alpine of the map list altogether.

Edit: To those telling me to overcome my mech's disadvantages, an AC20 Hunchback with 3 mls cannot help but hide or get eaten alive by lrms on Alpine.

No. Soldiers don't get to choose where they fight, neither should we.

Soldiers aren't supposed to enjoy fighting either, that would make them psychopaths
