I know, some love and some hate lrms.
for me it's a relationship born of ability (bad hands)
so what are the best easily configured lrm support variant builds?
I got a couple quick and dirty ones:
GRF-3M
GRF-1N
GRF-1S
All built around the same lines, support weapons vary between them of course
I want to try and keep it around a lrm20+ launcher with good performance if it gets messy up close (same reason my cats have close combat weapons)

Okay Broke Down And Got The 3 Griffons.. Now To Make Lrm Support Out Of Them

Having driven a Griffon LRM boat on the 1S:
- You are going too fast, you can live with a 275 engine for speed since you will prefer to stay mid range or further away.
- Get a TAG in an RA Energy slot, it is worth it.
- Expect to lose the arm on the 1N & 1S. Happened less than I thought on the 1S but it happened. I actually think the 3M would be the best boat because of this, use 2 slots for LRMs and the rest for close work. Stick a TAG in the 3M RA, if it goes, no weapons lost. I actually run a 2MPL, 3Streak, LRM10 3M and it does really well.
For a 3M, you might be able to run this well, just missing a BAP. Kept your LRM20 and combined that with what I am using. Use LRM early, swtich to ML+Streak use later. If you can control range, you can get all weapons in. Don't need up to 900 missiles on a 3M to make use of the other hardpoints.

One reason I go with the 280 over the 270 is the case isn't worth mounting with an xl engine. So that extra .5 tons can go to the engine.
The 2 lrm10s, are better done with 1 lrm20 weight and critical wise. giving me another ton of ammo. GRF-1S
Same output and loadout more or less with a little better armor and speed.
Tend to go heavy on ammo, run out too often most games (and mediums lack tonnage for lots of ammo compared to my cats)

Advantages of the 2 LRM10s over 1 LRM 20
- Reload time = 3.75 vs 4.75 the LRM 10s get that damage raining down at a faster rate.
- DPS = With faster rate of Fire we see a boost in DPS.LRM10 dps is 2.93 or 5.86 with 2 firing. While single LRM20 has DPS of 4.63.
- Survivability = 2 seperate LRM10s means a crit only takes out 1 of them reducing you only 50% of firepower.. While LRM20 1 takes it completely out.
At the loss of 1 ton of ammo... or 9 shots its up to u but when i got the Missile tubes i try to spread them out all in one basket bound to catch you sooner or later.
Really want another ton of ammo reduce your leg armor your torsos and arms will almost always go before your legs even if trimmed down.
Havent tried Griffin yet but found LRM10 and 15 on my Golden boy to be a real good mix with a few mediums and 3 SSRM2 for close in work. Add on TAG and if i get a mech out in open its pretty brutal with TAG and ART

You're right, I used the twin LRM10 because I was used to it on the Hunchback. There are advantages to both.
Given your choices, you could do this GRF-1N. Made it with your choices.
If you do not like the ammo location, put the LRM ammo in the legs, AMS in head and stack 4 JJ in the Left Torso.
The SRM2 is because this 1N has 1 less ML than the 1S. If you do not care about that, you can dump the SRM2 + ammo, swap the 2MLs for 2MPLs and add another ton LRM ammo somewhere.
Still has a RA vulnerability but as I show it, if you lose the RA, you still have a SRM2 up close.

Well been using the builds I posted, will take the examples into consideration when tweaking.
I do okayish upclose, but not at distance with guns. So tend to build in mediums/larges for brawling. Twitch I can't do, so steakboating is an option while I keep grinding up proficeny with the chassis

Ammo is the absolute key for an LRM-heavy build. At 55 tons, you really don't have a lot of tonnage for the extra stuff (TAG, Artemis, etc)... This is the build I run on my GRF-1N. Chain-fire the LRM10's and group-fire the MLs. It works like a champ. You can single-handedly suppress entire lances with this mech. While I'm not a huge fan of LRMs personally, it's definitely fun and effective.

I will agree the 3M is better Streak. I have done 2LLs + Streaks and 2MPLs + Streaks in it.
I tried the 1N as a Sniper, doesn't work for me. Partially I think because the faster a Mech moves, it seems to torso turn more and Mediums move too fast for me to Snipe with. I can do it in an Awesome, they drive like a bus. Plus with mouse settings not being adjustable now, that does not help.
I saw someone today who had a 1N Brawler, may go to that to see. I did it at start with 1LPL, 2ML & 3 Streak, was OK but with SRMs being fixed and having tried a SRM18 on the 3M, sounds like time for a SRM# pack on the 1N.

Lower your mouse sensitivity, Luke. The fact that you have trouble aiming does not disqualify a mech for others.

If you mean in game, it seems the settings do not work since last patch. Got a topic on it. I have no idea what happened.
