Greetings,
Based on the various pods for the clan mechs, why not consider a center torso pod too?
This could be a an engine upgrade at the cost of armor (Points/Types) or as a restriction to the other pods being able to fit?
I only mention this because of the slow light discussions, but could be beneficial across the board.
The idea is that if I want speed, I put in pod A, if I want more fire power, I put in pod B, if I want more diversified abilities (ECM, BAP, different weapon loadouts, etc.) I put in Pod C.
The BAP and ECM were just ideas around the pod coming with one (like it has to be mounted there automatically to provide reasoning for Pod C placement).
Such that if I have Pod A in for high speed, maybe I can only fit one of the 3 other pod types for weapons or something.
And, of course, the Pod a for speed would be a calculated engine type for the chassis, not the ability to put in any engine you want.

This already exists. Each variant has its own CT section. You want a different CT, you get a different variant.

No. They are wise in going with the tabletop rules regarding Clan OmniMechs not being able to change engines.
Perhaps for a Clan Hero version of an OmniMech, turning it from a true OmniMech into a non-adjustable BattleMech, some time in the future.

Better idea: Add the clan mechs that *do* crack 100kph.
Fire Moth
Arctic Cheetah, Icestorm, Jenner IIC, Incubis, Mandrill, Myst Linx, and Sling.
(Jenner IIC seems like it would be particularly vicious...while out-running most IS mechs.)

While I think it is ridiculous we can't upgrade our clan engines I do believe it's the closest thing to "balance" that PGI could achieve in regards to clan tech
Not saying it's the best idea, which it certainly isn't, just saying I don't think PGI could come up with a better solution.
