There has been pretty much since closed Beta, this mech is DOA, that mech is not worth the space in my mech bays anymore, its had it day and been forgotten Etc.

Pot of gold event caused me to, for shits and giggles, try a few Hero mechs that have not seen light of day for ages, because I've been grinding others or frankly they are not anywhere as good as other standard mechs, and as I thought I wouldn't have to much time on my hands I thought to hell with it lets run some old has been's, and been somewhat surprised at the claims they're no longer any good.

The first is the Dragon Slayer, while my results have been somewhat shy in the damage department, I was still the highest scoring Assault, in my matches, averaging around 350 (yeah even the DW's were not doing it) damage and a K/d 2.5

XL350
LPL x1
MPL x2
SRM4 x2
AC10 x1.

The really big surprise though was the Muromets, I see these even less than I see Dragon Slayers Flame/Fang, or Pretty Babies, and what little mention they get now is how squishy they are and how bad they are now, when they were the reason PGI became so cagey about making 'good' MC mechs.

XL280
ML x3
UAC5 x3
ams

best game with this has been a 2 kill game and a shade off 1000 damage
my worse was a 1 kill game and approx 380 damage
for kills its been a 4 kill game with 6 assists

I'm averaging around 470 damage a match
K/d is 3.50.

I'm what I would consider an above average player, with heavies, and assaults, ok with lights and suck with mediums, but fall far short of comp gaming level.

Anyone else used old forgotten, Hero or standard mechs and been pleasantly surprised by the results ?

i decided to put my qkd fourfour back out... and its still a bad mech.
but once you can line up the shots precisely without getting shot back its gonna be a devastator.
just that its the worst of the qkd's =/ one of the ballistics always hits something else than the target, mainly walls, hills or the back of a friendly mech. annoying as hell.

what really surprised me tho is the victor-9s. some of the battles were just crazy....

then i used the sparky... i just have no idea why they gave it the quirks the quickdraw 5k had before the last change. they been useless there already and are even more ona 5 ton lighter mech. ppc just dont work well if you dont have a good heat reduction quirk as well. still done 20 successfull battles in like 25 tries.

For me it was my Thor prime.
slapped on 5 ssrm6s and got my 20/20 matches no problem with the heavy slot.

I was surprised at my Panther 10K, which I used for the Pot of Gold event. When it was released, I had trouble using it the right way and quickly reverted back to my trusty Firestarter. But during the event, I tried a 2 LPL build and was surprised at what I accomplished.

Guess I know how to use it now :)

Edit: typo's.

Ok final assault challenge match with the Dragon Slayer MS108 K4 A5 Dam 730.

I guess the D.S isn't as broken as us Victor fans like to believe

my ADR-A is very surprising, it manages at least one kill every match, and at least 200 damage (400 or above on a good day) i use it as a brawler and a IS heavy/assault hunter. i took advantage of the omnipods of other variants to give it 2 SRM6 and An S-SRM 6, and a erlrg laser, making it useful all ranges. stick with the larger mechs and this mech easily can get kills
