im kind of low on funds for now, i just got fired. i already have a mouse and keyboard and a monitor. this laptop was supposed to be for school, but it just happened to have just enough specs to play some pretty ok games.

No worries as others have said keep trying. I would try dx9 and drop all settings to low if not already. Even try 800x600 as the resolution doing this should pull some of the strain off the CPU.

Feel free to send me a PM if you need help or have questions.

OP, it's on the desperate side of suggestions, but one thing that could make a difference is faster RAM. Normally anything beyond 1600 or even 1333 really makes no appreciable difference, but systems with APUs are the exception, since that's your VRAM. Upgrading to something like DDR-1866 or 2133 could make a difference. Enough to warrant the cost? It'd be about $80 for 8GB of 1866. It would make a modest difference if you're already using 1333.

I would personally still just save for another machine. I assume you'll have to get another job sooner or later, and when you do almost any budget can be accommodated (well, down to 500 or do, and that's really pushing it). If, however, that's not going to happen, faster RAM is about your only hardware upgrade path.

(Note: this assumes your system would accommodate RAM of such clock speeds)

I would say at 1.9GHZ speed CPU, not really.

As it stands your current system specs are not good for gaming, especially MWO at the moment since it hasn't been optimized very well.

And laptops are know to be unresponsive to this gambit: http://www.anandtech...dimm-memory-kit

You can try googlling to see if you system will recognize faster RAM, but don't get your hopes up …

my computer has 4gb of ram, but only uses 3.6 for some reason. i have played the game and on low i can play it, and i get around 18-22 fps. i run a centurian, and i get any where from 150-250 dmg per match, due to the low fps i die rather quickly cause i cant aim well

I run on a toshiba satellite 505A. One thing I did was use a storage device to give me an extra 4 gb of RAM. There were two variants of this laptop and I got the one without the Nitivia 310 graphic card, so I play with 12 to 16 frames per second.

Take Koniving's advice.

Run slower mechs. Get good at LRM boats, then try other mechs with AC's.

Since you said that you have a centurion, run it with LRM 10's. the A maybe run with all LRM 5's, LRM 10's or a mix of both. The AL and and D use LRM 10's. Sure you will not be able to use the auto cannons with the LRMs due to weight, but those pesky lights do not like MG's. TAG makes a big difference especially with the number of ECM units running around now. BAP, is another item to have to defeat ECM. With the A and D you will have MG's so near the end you can strafe the enemy mechs for crits after the LRMs are gone. The AL should always be used with TAG and at the end you with have a few MLs to attach with.

I tried to play with lights early on, with terrible results. Get good at one thing, LRMs and then try other roles. When I did that the game just clicked. Even with very low frame rates, I have mechs that have KDR's over 2. I have a positive W/L ratio since the reset, and a KDR of .9, but I have been running lights again including the Locust. Funny part is I like running lights even if I can barely hit the broadside of a barn while running through it.

Look at Shadow hawks or Catapults for in the future. Assaults maybe the Battlemaster or stalkers. Then again, you have your own play stile and what you like to play. Go for that and have fun. The but is LRMs may help you learn confidence and situational awareness. Both will make you a better player.

I sure hope you have looked into the forums about custom user configs..........can really help to sift out the unnecessary processes that MWO can live without..........perfect for low core count or core speed.........
