I was playing Friday night when this happened.



Check it out, the client crashed and I entered into a spectator mode. You cannot tell what grid you are in nor see team colors, but its cool never the less. Enjoy and game on.

There is a dedicated spectating client in the works. The alpha version was first tested in public during a recent RHOD match.

I really hope there is a spectator mode. But i also hope its only on Solaris. Not sure what else to say about it other than, lets try keep the core of mechwarrior game play and setting at top quality.

I think the faction wars not being spectator mode and only seen on the galaxy map and through news feeds is what it should be and sort of always has been in prior games.

Solaris on the other hand was meant for spectator mode.........

This is actually a really big thing in my opinion and i hope they get it right.

From what has been said, it looks like they are heading in this direction anyway. This is one of those things that can be really great in one area, and cheapen another, in my opinion.

Overall everything they have said they are going to do with this game development looks great, but there are a few ideas floating around that could really take away from a super game.

that looks cool, but the names block too much! if i may suggest, getting behind and closeups would be really good angles too! toggles, and colour? the HPG video gives cleaner definition to the colours and works good without the tags.

This is based on PGI's GM/dev tool for watching live matches -- an internal app which had no need for great visuals. It is only slightly more than a prototype in terms of functionality -- lots to do.
