Just another rant/observation of where MWO has gone horribly wrong.

Pricing, aaaah yes the fanboys will flame I am sure... PGI needs the money to develop the game, they need to substitute their meagre income when they go to the soup kitchens just for a decent meal because they are so passionate about the game and only care for the fans... their sole life purpose is to make a great game and nothing else.

In reality all they want is to do the least work possible and make as much money in as short a time as possible, thats the facts kiddies... nothing more nothing less.

I was looking at the pricing system for Hawken today, I'm in the U.K so I decide to drop £6 and buy some Hawken credits... I would like to let you know what £6 ($8-$9) got me. It could of got me an unlocked early premium mech.. Cough (Gold mech) with unlocked weapons which PGI charge $500 for. I unlocked a weapon instead of grinding for in game money and still had the glory of... get this, buying 2 more mechs and a camo pattern or Avatar.

I just want you to mull over this, I know you wont because I belive only the fanboys would put up with PGI for so long but maybe not. I also expect certain people to post large amounts of pictures in a row with the intent to express 'Whining' - I'm not, I really want you guys to try this game and see if its as good as I say... otherwise enjoy MWO which I have come to see as a money grab failure of a game. thats coming from someone who had enough faith to buy the overlord pheonix package and is humble enough to say I was wrong for supporting PGI.

Hawkens pricing is quite nice. I did like it when i played the game. But yeah MWO pricing is pretty insain. But so it is on allot of F2P games. As long as ppl pay those prices, this trend will continue.

How do you feel about project phenix pricing?

Hawken is trying to appeal to the millions of people that want a nice FPS, MWO is trying to milk thousands of battletech fans.

Not in the games/movie market, you make something spectacular and set a president.PGI should not try get away with doing as little as possible and the community should not let them if they love the lore and game so much.

Except IGP/PGI told founders (i.e. battletech fans) that they werent their target audience.

Didnt have a point per se, was commenting on OP. But F2P games are based on micro transactions. Micro needs to be Micro. Not poking at MWO but F2P market in general.

If we as players of F2P games(and early acces(touches on preorders too)) are not carefull will have unfinished products that charges allot of money.
No promises no nothing. They can just do what flappy birds did, take that money and poof gone.

If you want to actually make this argument don't shoot yourself in the foot by comparing the $500 gold mechs to the normal mechs in another game. It is difficult to give you any credibility when you start your argument off in such a way. Also naming other games in this forum is bad form.

The correct comparison is with the normal MWO mechs. They normally cost ~3000 MC for an assault. Thats $15 compared to your example of $9 for a mech. I've not played the other game so I can't say if MWO's mech are actually worth the extra $6 but at least this gives us an actual place to start the discussion.

I also feel mechs are too expensive. You know what isn't helpful to a discussion? Starting it by being insulting and aggressive rather than stating your opinon and looking for feedback from your peers. If you expect and invite flaming, you'll get a worthless thread full of flames instead of one which actually contributes anything to the forum.

On topic, I feel that their MC by tonnage pricing is fundamentally flawed. I would have a much smaller range of MC prices between all mechs/heroes in order to encourage people to buy the mech they want rather than the mech they can afford, and also help lessen the perception that more tons = better mech. In addition the mechs should be half or less the price that they are currently.

But I've said again and again in multiple threads, I'm just not the target market. The majority isn't. It's the whales that PGI is after, and studies have shown that the whales are the people who keep almost all free to play games afloat. Seems like a reasonable business goal, and seems to be working out alright for them.

Correct! That's why the thread has a new home.

Not to mention that it is again one of those "Hawken is better" threads this user likes to create.

If you think I started out as insulting or agressive then you are not getting the point, I invited you to try Hawken and make your own oppinion and pointed out a major flaw in MWO.

Egomane, 'This' user is tired of being messed around and actually wants to log on one month and say, wow!
'This' user is not impressed with PGI's pricing system so wont support it, 'This' user will moan a while longer and see if things get fixed but eventually 'This' user and 'Many' users will lose complete interest in this game because people are being so compliant sometimes it's unbelievable and it will die. 'This' user doesnt want it to die, do you get what I am saying?

Yes, I do!

But you are doing it the wrong way!
With words like "fanboys" and "kiddies" towards those who might disagree with you, with constant comparisons to only one other product, that only shares the Mecha and F2P descriptors with MWO, you are fishing for flames.

Do not treat those with different opinions as if they don't know a thing, even before they answered you. Do not put your values over those of others.

Start comparing to more then one other F2P game and it's marketing strategies, to create a bigger picture, unless you want to open up the possibility to be dismissed because you are "picking cherries".

If you do that, you might get a constructive discussion going.

Yeah they did actually. They said founders werent their target audience.

Also when 3rd person came out and 90% of people on the forums didnt want it they justified adding it by saying players on the forums were a biased minority and that the unspoken majority actually wanted third person.

No, they said the people complaining about ridiculous stuff weren't their target audience. A couple of people just assumed that since they were a Founder and wanted ridiculous things that it meant PGI said Founders weren't their target audience. And that is how that rumor got started.

PGI was 100% right about that. The forums are a tiny fraction of the player base. The percentage of the entire player base who actually gives a rip about 3PV as long as it is balanced is very very tiny.

Interesting OP. Ever compare MWO's pricing to WoT. I can guarantee that not only is MWO more fun and less grindy, but has better prices.
