I think the off reddish is from basic paint more of a darker brown you can use C bills for that one and the white is a very light gray cheaper then bright white and the blue is a dull blue cheaper then bright blue in all it give it a scruffy look.

Do bright or unusual color schemes tend to draw fire in this game? I would think players choose who to shoot at based on other priorities.

Sometimes they do - sometimes people prefer what they call "easier targets"

Mixture, actually.
For some, bright colors draw attention and fire.
For others, enemies get intimidated by bright colors ("he has colors, he must be good.")

From the "Tactical tips."

Colors will draw attention, regardless of increased fire, or increased carefulness around the player. The 'Mechs I like to run more regularly all have fairly recognizable colors (my Heroes are painted in Arctic colors, my STK-5S dons Phranken camo with a large red skeleton painted across the chassis and so on) with different effects during engagements. Generally, your painted 'Mech will always be the center of someones attention, for better or for worse.

For me thats the hole point to draw fire from the Atlas or assaults to me and line him up so the big guy can get in some good shots and take um out.

So far, I paint all my mechs in soothing Olive Drab (because all good NCOs dream in subdued colors...or so I learned in the Army). :)

Im wondering how noticable the Gold Camo will be? It should not only be bright, but every time you look at it, it should throw off some wicked lense flair in the sun LOL. It needs to be a beacon seen across the entire map!

Yea that would suck, but it would be showing off and that is what the camo is for.

Good idea - even if you only buy a split second per enemy as they look at your bright colors and think "huh?" that could be enough time for one more good shot from your big, drab assault mech to finish the job.

Ya know, when I saw this thread title I got excited. I thought to myself, "Gee, Blastman, finally, someone with a pair of brass that wants to fight the enemy in their face than stand behind some rock, crying to themself, waiting to die..."

Then I saw what it was about.

Ah well.

Nice paint, regardless. ;)

Sorry for the derail.

Your Jurassic Park looks like it has Scoliosus. Might want to get that recalibrated.

The last time that I tried to fight you face to face, you shot it off before I could get into SRM range. But, I'm not jaded or anything.

I've personally seen you do 396 in that same build. Made me sad and happy all at the same time ;)
