So, I try to log in to have a little fun on MWO on a Sunday night to take advantage of the double xp weekend and I get hit with a patch which I am informed will take 2 hours. Needless to say, i won't get any chance to play tonight and lose out on the double xp.
Is that bad timing for a patch or what?!!
Is there any fore-warning of it anywhere and what's it all about?

have you checked your local ISP speed, and or thought about rerouting? Speedtest.net is a good cheep way to check, but the patch speed is usually based on how long it has been since you last patched (if you have missed several, you are actually better off uninstalling and ddoing a clean install... it will be faster and less buggy). If not, the likelihood is you ISP is throttled for some reason.

There'll be a patch every first and third tuesday of a month. The patch will be applied as soon as you start you client after the patch comes live.
If you only need one patch, it it is telling you it needs two hours, please try the following:
1. Stop the patcher and close it
2. Restart the client and see if the patch will still need this long.
Repeat this step if necessary.
Sometimes you will be connected to a patch server that is already rather busy. Restarting the patch process will usually connect you to another lane and improve the download speed considerably.
I had the same problem, last tuesday, when the patcher at first told me I'd need 18 hours to download the patch. After I restarted it, the download was done in less then 10 seconds.
