With Community Warfare coming soonTM, and at risk of opening the largest can of worms that is also on fire, I am curious what the community thinks.

What do you realistically think Community Warfare will be? What features will be in place, what will be missing, and how will it interact with the game at large?

Nothing- the community isn't nearly large enough to support an automated system of any substance.

It will be forever dangled in front of our noses like the proverbial carrot.

Edit: spelling

Different name, same company, they have a history of making cheap minimally viable games for cash
only difference is this one costs more

Vapor, that is what I expect. It will never happen. CW is just the carrot at the end of a neverending stick.

No real way of knowing what PGI has in store. All they give us are tiny breadcrumbs with no context.

Like,"Mercs will be able to set a tax rate on their members". Why? What would this do?

"12 Players will have to get together and buy a Dropship as part of creating a Merc unit." Only one? One Dropship will support a 300 man unit?

"Players will be able to fight over planets. I mean Fronts. Or maybe planets too." The original CW posts and PC Gamer articles never mentioned fronts.

The ONLY real concrete thing said about CW in 2 years- "Players cannot use the names of canon units or individuals".

Honestly, nothing. I have absolutely no evidence to back this up, but I think PGI missed the boat 1 1/2 years ago when MWO was at a critical mass. Very little has materialized since then, and in all honesty I think many people just moved on. We live in a faster and faster world every year, people aren't going to wait multiples of them for the staple feature of a product. They'll find something else to entertain them and never come back. This is what I believe has happened.

Translation: The PGI cash grab is pretty much over- we have been farmed for pretty much all we are worth.

i expect them to do a damn good job, with a highly polished system after what come this sept will be 3 years in development, and what they said we will have as per this youtube post

now with that being said,

what we are really going to get however will be a really poor half finished system with probably a map of the inner sphere, and some factions,

that is what they will call "highly polished" and "finished"

so don't get your hopes up, were probably not even going to get 3/4 of the things that mentioned in that post

I no longer have high expectations (or any at all) because having expectations has only lead to disappointment for people like me who ponied up.

Well, there will be three main modes of play in MWO: Public, Faction, and Private.

Public will just be an "instant action" style of play, where matches do not affect CW and teams will be made up of both Clan and IS mechs. Pretty much exactly what we have now...same thing with Private matches.

Faction will be where each team consists of one faction, plus merc corps and lone wolves that have contracts with that faction.

Phase 1
When Phase 1 of faction play is released later this year, I'm guessing that's the extent of what we'll see. That is, I doubt we'll be able to fight over planets when it's first released, but we'll be able to select our faction, establish merc companies, and obtain contracts as mercs with one of the IS/Clan factions.

Also, loyalty points will probably be in and your progress will finally be visible. Each time you win a battle for your chosen faction, your loyalty with that faction will increase.

Phase 2
By Phase 2, I suspect we'll have Attack/Defend mode and a few planets to fight over. Probably start seeing some rewards for earning loyalty points.

Phase 3
This will be when the rest of the planets are implemented and the ability to fortify and upgrade bases on planets that your faction controls, as well as the meta effects of controlling specific planets.

Around here mediocre expectations lead to greater disappointment, high expectations lead to a different game.

And it all was ready to go 90 days after launch, buy a phoenix package.

Until you remember that it is still in the ******* PLANNING STAGES NOW! Total lie on that stage, and they knew it.

To be honest, they wouldn't have to put a whole lot of effort into it if they were willing to fake it.

"This weekend the Factions battle for
[planet name] that has the galaxy's largest
[production facility type: factory/mine/etc] for
[mech/weapon system/mineral/etc].

Winners and those associated with them get
[X% discount on {something} and everyone else has to pay Y% premium/a free mech/a million c-bills/etc]."

I expect to be disappointed by whatever it will end up being -- if it ends up being at all.
