I'm looking at other games (Star Citizen mainly) and there is an increasing interest in drawing from the community. I don't mean ideas I mean drawing actual content from the community. There was a contest done by MoonBetaUnit "Create a Marauder" and there were quite a few designs in there that were absolutely awesome.
There has been repeated mentions of the cost of mech development, map development etc. Allow the community to participate. This Battletech franchise is one that is kept alive through persistent passion over the last several decades. Harness that passion, and let people get involved. It's a complete win win. PGI doesn't have to worry about shelling out full cost of a 3D design, community get to vote on the design, winner gets a butt load of MC. Of course the decision would have to be made if the design has to be 3D modeled, as a hand drawn design can't be readily imported...
I can't see anything but good coming out of something like this.
Sorry for the format/grammar/spelling I'm on a mobile and didn't want to lose the idea lol.

No doubt. I'm sure enough people have CryTools and can create mechs, or maps, or map features, or something useful. Free up development for, oh I don't know, CW???
