that command is disabled.

Ok, thanks for the info. I have not had any issues with ghosting or motion blur so I assumed that it was working for me.

In spite of the blur - that is an awesome pic. ;)

(tries not to think about how much more awesome it might be without the blur)

...Actually, I am pretty relatively fine with the blur in that pic.

Glass: fail

See, Glass wouldn't be so bad. Except it looks like frosted glass more than 'transplast' which is supposed to be some kind of transparent metal alloy. So there shouldn't be any cracks. Dents, sure, even transparent warped metal is a possibility. But 'cracks'? No.

The other issue is that the 'glass' becomes very visible while looking away from the sun (as it shines through the EMPTY SPACE that should be the back door of the mech) and blinds you. But when you look at the sun it becomes invisible (which is where it should show up the most). It's a problem that isn't associated with the engine as similar games can handle the task just fine. It's an issue with how the 3D model for the glass was made.

If it weren't for that, the glass would be fine. Til that gets fixed, it remains off for me.

The "backwards" implementation of glass s what really ruined it for me. Getting extremely bad vision obscuring sun glare, when the sun is behind me and I'm in the shade drove me utterly bonkers.

I tried toggling it off - didn't change anything.

If there was/is a user.cfg or whatever change - I keep forgetting it. ;)

This is slightly off-topic but for some reason when I tried to create a user.cfg, I was having trouble making it a .cfg file not a .txt file named "user.cfg". It was also odd that the two .cfg files that WERE in that folder were empty.

Does MWO use special .cfg files? I always thought they were just text files you could open w/ Notepad.

I made a .txt file and changed the .txt to .cfg. :)

Only just really starting to learn about programming, but apparently that is enough to change the 'tag' that the program is looking for.

If there is already a "user.cfg" I would edit that rather than make a new one - older installation?
Several patches ago they changed it so there wasn't one by default, last time I reinstalled (to fix some issues) I lost the user.cfg and had to re-make it.

If you have disabled file extensions in Windows Explorer, it can get hard to change the extension to .cfg

Yeah, to do what wickwire suggests, you need to uncheck "hide extensions of known file types" in folder options.

alternatively, you can create a new text file, put in your commands, be sure to Save as... and append .cfg to the filename AND change the filetype drop down box below to "All Files." (Otherwise your file will be named user.cfg.txt)

Like... what does it blur and when? I can't tell a difference with it on or off. Sometimes mechs get a ghosting effect as they move, but it looks uninentional, almost like screen tearing (v-sync is on).

No use. Something to fix at a later date??

At the beginning of this, you can hear the frustration of the popular MWO photographer was having with trying to remove the motion blur because with every single patch they ruin it even more.

And I thought my battlemech save times were slow K... ..30 seconds!

Nice vid and well played

Did you increase you FoV? I really ought to do that, just watched your Ember vid and the cockpit looks awesome...

It actually looks like cheap plexiglass you'll find on farm equipment and crop-dusting helicopters.

Motion blur, Cockpit reflection and others are neat ideas, but players (generalization) feel that the time spent creating them could have been better spent implementing promised features and fixing fundamental game functions. That's a reason why players are so frustrated with the game.

I don't even think about it in terms of other functions - I understand that some features we dislike were packaged with CryEngine, for instance - I just don't like the function of a lot of things. Like film grain and dust/mist effects that make me unable to use visual spotting...

Maybe it's just my monitor, or my settings, or my backdrop, or just personal image recognition, but I have difficulty seeing enemies in situations where they can see me, in large part because of the dang distance haze. It's an artificial constraint that feels like some people aren't affected by as much, and I hate it because of its functionality.
