no it was not shs only. the rules clearly stated 2 out of 3 matches and Stock mechs only, Hero and Champion Mechs excluded. One of my oponents was running GRF-3M which also loaded DHS.

which is why I asked. Obviously it was not a Stock Mech Monday then. Good to know. We cannot comment on how OTHER people enforce their idea of "stock" mech, I only speak about the "League" I actively participate in (and the one this OP generally refers to). I am sorry your experience with the "other guys" was disappointing. Stop by our matches with your SHS designs, and you will have a different experience. But no, if you want DHS, we are not (generally) the place for you, though I believe General Taskeen has something in the works for that.

Well, since some people are interested in stock mechs to get back to basics, picking only DHS mechs could be seen as trying to gain the advantage.

Back in the 90s there was always someone who wanted to bring a mech with Clan LPLs and a TC to the table. No one ever played that guy again. He was labelled as "Munch." Don't ask me why, that was the term.

So if you look at a mech built with level 1 tech (SHS, STD engine and internals) and compare it to a WVR-7K that has an XL engine and DHS, the Wolverine is a little munchy.

Next time just bring SHS mechs. FYI--the most gamebreaking thing in Battletech (and therefore MechWarrior) is the advent of DHS. Nothing adds raw power so much as DHS. You can use XL engines, endosteel, etc but without DHS you just dont have the heat capacity to use it.

Wow,
joined a Stock-mech only (no hero, no champion) 1v1 tournament. Played my first Stock mech, won 5 duels in a row and they made my result invalid for taking an "OP" stockmech. Picked my second Stock Mech, replayed last 2 matches and they were bitching about my choise again.

Forfeited from tournament. Glad that those guys thought stock mechs were all "balanced".

What TS were you on? Mondays/Wednesdays through MechForce Classic are full on battles, not 1v1.

* Mondays is Tech 1/Early Tech 2 (no stocks with DHS)

* Wednesday has Tech changing every week (depending on the week in the month, DHS stocks become "available")

On the other topic of stock mode, here are two other F2P's that have "historical" or realism modes where you can only utilize standard variants of a vehicle with no upgraded equipment:

War Thunder
World of Tanks

Other Mech Warrior games that had "stock mode" difficulty options for server options (Mech Warrior games have not always been about customization):

Mech Warrior 3
Mech Warrior 4

Hmm...Currently, the MechForce: Classic community hasn't run any tournaments...seem like an "unofficial" gig separate from Stock Mech Monday, Stock Mech Eras, and Stock Saturday (which are the only events we claim thus far).

And those haven't had any problem with children who can't comprehend "rules creates fun"...We have had people drop in the wrong Mech and they decided, on their own, to just go to the garden and do the honorable thing. xD

Long story to say: Sorry you had a bad experience. You should totally join us on Mondays tho! No problems so far (plus in a 12v12 environment, people will call others on their ****).
