I have been away a bit - I thought it was addressed somewhere, but now I cannot find the thread.

Will IS mechs be able to mount clan tech weapons?

Additional Clan 'Mech Rules

While the OmniMech rules apply to all Clan OmniMechs as well as any Inner Sphere OmniMechs we may make in the future, there are also rules that apply to all Clan and Inner Sphere 'Mechs, dictating the use of Clan technology.

Clan 'Mech can only equip Clan weapons and equipment.
  • Clan 'Mechs cannot equip Inner Sphere technology.
  • When customizing a Clan 'Mech, only Clan technology is shown in the player’s inventory.

Command Chair posts are your friend.

No, you will not be able to mix weapon/tech. From a balance standpoint, this is actually a good thing because of the current Omnimech restrictions. They can't customize their engine, armor type, internal structure, or heatsink type (right now this isn't an issue, but the ones that are hardlocked with SHS like the Owens and Strider are going to SUCK).

If they didn't get to keep the exclusive benefits of Clan weaponry, nobody outside of roleplayers/nostalgists would bother using them because IS mechs would be far more flexible in every way. The Omnis need an advantage to counteract their disadvantages.

Ok - that is what I thought. I knew it was there somewhere, just couldnt find it!

So - why do no clan lights have JJ? In fact, of the chassis, almost none have JJ, only 2, a med and a heavy. And from what I gather, you cant add them, just like you can IS mechs.

For the JJ lover....there is little to love in clan tech.

(now that I look, I did find the post, missed snippet at bottom! - thanks all!)

The Dire Wolf C has jump jets and ECM on it. No idea if PGI is putting that configuration in, though. It might be too scary. I mean, think about it, a 100 ton, ECM equipped poptart!

Well, and thats it. In the current sets, there is no ECM variant at all, and only two models with JJ, and they only go 81kph. For me, I like my JJ with speed, and those barely cut it - though its workable. It would be nice to see a clan light with JJ.
