I just recently started playing, and I think I'm doing pretty well. Are these stats decent?

It is a small sample size of matches (<100) but with positive KDR and W/L nearly across the board. Looks like your Jenner-F is going to make people famous B)

Remember, stats really aren't important, the main key is to play the game for fun, don't worry much on stats. Also, do you have archived (edit) stats (when they had the server migration iirc)? Your stats (especially that Jenner stat) are pretty strong, but again you shouldn't worry much on them. I used to have a very bad K/D ratio (0.20 ish before), but I still had fun playing. :)

Stats aren't really important in a team-based game. The really important thing is are you having fun and are you contributing to your team?

Uh...yeah. I want to win.

Looks like my first 19 games were "archived", whatever that means.

There is a large Cbill bonus connected to your first 25 matches. Normal match income starts with match 26. The achievements just track that. There are others, for various things you can do (some pretty hard to get).

Archived means that it was before the server migration. Yeah, everyone wants to win, but a close loss is better than a terrible victory.

Like if the other team has 6 dcd guys or something and you win. Or if you have a cap race and you won with not a single guy dead in Assault. Or if you had like two groups of DDCs and they had two groups of Locusts. This kind of stuff is sorta like :) . Just that some wins aren't really fair/deserved, and therefore are just bad games. At the same time, close losses like 11-12 loss with one tiny mistake by the last man standing, which could've been a very good game.

You want to win? At what? Stat Warrior?

If you chase personal glory, then you will be a sucky teammate. You will focus on getting kills even if it's not the best thing to do for one example.. (For the slow among us, no getting a kill isn't the point of the game, that stripped mech with no weapons should be ignored in favor of a mech still doing damage).

Play your way, but no that some of us won't want you on our team.

Same as Nick Makiaveli has said, those stats dont mean much for others in a team game. You could sit in a light doing nothing (maybe sniping long rang) untill the match is nearly over and all fighting done, then get some easy kills on critical mechs and run away, hide and log off to not get killed yourself. Or you wait next to the brawling heavies / assuallts not firing much (making sure heat is ok for kill shot) and when you see the enemy mech dark orange / red on a vital mech part, fire all lasers for the killing blow. Not help team members who are being harrased by other lights, not focus firing to get a team kill, not helping a temamate which causes a team mate to die unnecessarily). K/D Stats dont tell us how good a player you are at all, or how well you contributed to the team.

I play some really bad (ie non meta builds) cause i have fun in them. A fun game is important to me, and non team players make the game less fun, so i dont like those on my team (not referring to OP, as cant recall if palyed with him or not ever, just a general statemnt).

I want to win matches.....I just asked if these were decent stats for a new player to have. No need to get all butthurt. For a team to win, the individual must excel at his job, for without excellent individual achievement in that mechs particular role, whatever it may be, the team will most likely lose. A sniper that can't shoot, an LRM boat that launches missiles into the sides of hills (we've all seen it), etc. I scout, I cap, I screen for the heavies / assaults, and do general light stuff. I'm not sitting back doing nothing, and streaking in at the end of the match to get kills...I think if you do a little math there, you'll find I average quite a bit of damage in each match too. My teams winning % is pretty decent I think....I think. I'm not sure, WHICH IS WHY I'M ASKING.

Go douche or something, man....your giner be a little bloody.

"Terrible victories" refers to matchmaker fuckups where one side has an overwhelming advantage. Silly stomps are pretty sad, even if you happen to be on the winning side.

Although he might be a bit rough in his wording, he is correct, you don't want to play to win for yourself. He didn't specifically mention against you, he said 'if' you are playing in this general way with this general thought in mind of winning only for personal glory. You don't want to fall into that category of fighting for oneself only.

BTW, Nick's example is generally right, but if a stripped mech is killed by you, you are also doing a favor for the team, who has already done the tough work in stripping it to the bare bones. If you leave it and never end up killing it, then it becomes bad as well. You never want to fight an army of zombies only to be outcapped/out of ammo/zombied yourself. Just want to give a quick example of this during the night I was playing earlier, I was in my Raven 3L, and there was an awful, I mean awful DDC pilot and me and a Commando 2D were just hitting him constantly with SSRMs. But then I overheated once and died, and not only that, the Commando ran out of ammo and had TAG not ML, then the extremely cored DDC got away, which is definitely something that was due to tunnel vision on my own part, getting too greedy with the shots.

And cap races and the like where the teams just screw each other over and stuff like that (tking/dcd people/etc).

I play to win matches....I want to win matches, because I like winning. It IS for me...Seems like sometimes, no matter what you do, the team still loses though. /shrug Either way....it's still for me. I don't play for you to win and have fun, I play for me to win and have fun....and so do you. If you weren't having fun, and win a few matches here and there, you'd probably stop playing, yes? Why? Because it's for you.

Anyway..I got my answer. I'm doing decent...which is all I was really wanting. Something on which to gauge my progress. Not a lesson in the fundamentals of team play. But...thanks. I had no idea team play was about the team winning.....completely lost on me. /smack

Looks like you're doing great in that JR7-F. Ever thought of fighting for the FRR?
