Try embarrassing :)

Atlas have more armor than any other mech in the game - if you turned all of him cherry red - he did his job. :)

I loved the HBK 4SP in stock... but damn it's hard leveling them up while stock. Dropped onto Mordor 4 outta 7 games with it while trying to get it basiced up, and holycrap it was painful with SHS there. I'm afraid of the SHDs and JAGs in stock....

Why level up in stock? I'm considering buying an AWS-8R for stock Monday, but I already mastered my DHS endo etc. custom 8R.

The pain of reverting it back to stock for the Mondays?

I know -I- didn't want to do that - and I have reason to believe I have a well above average Cbill income!

Because I don't have the cbills to buy 2

Not that it matters, after another night of getting my teeth kicked in all night long and saying "thank you sir, may i have another?", I'm done. I'm not uninstalling, maybe I'll try 3/3/3/3 if it ever comes out, but I can't take the endless never-ending getting absolutely annihilated every time I log on. It's the opposite of fun, and fun is supposed to be what games are about.

Thanks, Shar and Bulletsponge. It was a fun night and one of the only good memories I have of this game.

A premade is supposed to be an average collected from the group's members and then slapped together as "one" score.

So if we have 3 newer players and 1 experienced player, they'll count as a mostly new team and then the 1 player (usually myself) will look incredible against a cluster of newer players.
Of course that one player in the group drags the other three into a match with players of higher level than they would normally see, but lower than the high-scoring player would normally see.

So then you have an issue where one team may have a premade of 4 intermediate players and the other may have a premade of 3 newer players and 1 very experienced player which is allowed because their averages match up within a tolerance level. It doesn't mesh quite so well in practice however.

Then, you have the issue where right now Alpha is not the only premade. Last night I had a match where my 4 man premade was in Charlie Lance; which only happens if Alpha and Bravo are full with premades as well.

3 pre mades on a team , is just beyond ridiculous . Posted Image

Stick around...I struggle mightily in solo drops...but the more friends you make, the more opportunities you have to team up..and for me, the fun (and success) increases exponentially while teamed up..even if its only a 2 man group...I'll continue sending you invites to groups anytime I see you on...

No elo or matchmaker can save you if you decide to level up mechs with their stock loadouts. Even the worst of players will have somewhat reasonable loadouts, which is giving them so much of an edge that they will beat you without breaking a sweat even if you are a much better player than they are.

In the past, new players used to be truly ******, as the trial mechs were actually stock mechs. Nowadays, you can play the trials until you can afford to buy and customize a mech of your own. Then you can play the trials or your new customized mech until you can afford to buy and customize the next one. Buying a mech and taking it to a (regular) match in stock loadout is pretty much the same as dropping without a mech at all and seeing if your team can still pull it off and get you a win from the 11-12 situation you put them in. Or at least as a gamble that 1 out of the 4 other people in the world dropping in stock loadouts would happen to drop to the opposite side so you'd have someone equal to fight.

For multiple premades per team, I have once witnessed a game with 3x 4-man premades on each side. It was one of the best, even matches I've seen. For what it's worth, the 1 premade per team is one of the stupidest things PGI has decided on, at least I'd consider it much more fair to have for example 2x 2-mans against a 4-man than just one 2-man against one 4-man. I fail to see any reason why that 1 premade per team would be more desireable to actually balanced number of premade players in teams.

Or they could have set it up with one queue for solo only and one for premades...but not sure if feasible or how that would effect wait times ...

This is such a obvious solution , It makes me wonder why every developer at PGI hadn't been fired for not implementing it , If the player base is so low they cant offer a matchmaker that makes the game reasonable playable .They should be fired for extending the license and not just quitting before they did any more damage to there reputation the longer they leave the game how it is now ... The less chance they have of ever redeeming there credibility as developers.

plus...the solo only queue would allow for an in-game VOIP to be more easily implemented also...

Yeah, I know its not the ideal way to do it...but it sure is fun to do....watching the Atlas helplessly spin as you slowly strip him down to nothing...not good for the team, but still satisfying....

I had the same thing happen for us, too. Our triple 4-player team lost, and we had a two player advantage. To be fair I was in a Locust.

That wasn't last Saturday night was it? I think you were in a Locust when you gave me some C-Bills. ;)
