So with the next patch due next Tuesday, the 20th, let's have some wild speculation over what it might be. Last month, it was guessed right up until the patch that the next mech would be the 70-ton Grasshopper (think of it as an oversized Firestarter and you're close). And then? We got a booster pack for four of the Phoenix Mechs.

So was the "Grasshopper Guess" just wild speculation, or just a month early? Or are we getting something else?

My hope is for a hybrid Hatchetman/Zeus/Cyclops/King Crab, but let's not be greedy.

What does everyone think? Grasshopper? Something else? Has PGI posted up what it is on some other media source like they usually do?

Well they claimed it would be the vindicator.

But seems to be delayed. Which actually makes sense, all of the time line variants except 1, the 1X, are all more or less identical in their hardpoints.

The delay makes sense because the 1X comes stock with a 1/2 ton MG ammo.

Vindicator could be cool, but I'd like to see another Lyran mech hit (Zeus or Hatchetman).

I thought the next would be a Heavy, though.

But on the Medium front, I think I'd rather have the Assassin.

technically, they should give us the damned flea already! Banshee was last after all...

but i would be contented with another 45 ton mech.

Hero's already dropped for this month [Quickdraw], but I could see them doing a booster pack for the Griff and Wolverines.

I think I'm the only person that prefers the Wolverine. No idea why - the Griff really is the better mech, I just REALLY like Wolverines. I blame the 80s.

Pretty sure they never said the Vindicator would be "the next mech". Russ tweeted that it would be the next 45 ton medium, but that it would not be the next mech released and they did not know when it would come out exactly.

There will be no new mechs this month. Variants only.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooookay

And that was my take, too: that the Vindicator was on the "short list" (along with the King Crab, surprisingly), but not that it was imminent. Not sure what variants they'll roll out, but at this point, I'm pretty happy with my...man, I don't even know anymore. I have at least three variants of Cicadas, Stalkers, Locusts, Wolverines, Griffins, Battlemasters, Thunderbolts, Cataphracts, Jenners, Firestarters, Spiders, Atlases, Highlanders, Commandos, Centurions, and Banshees, with the Hero version of a few of those. So...60 or so?

Unless it's something new that I really like, I think I'm good.

There are two possible mechs we know if there is a new mech this month. Mauler and Vindicator

I'm with you, the Griffin just doesn't do it for me, but the Wolverine has been enticing me since it came out. Now that I finally bought one, I really love it.

As for upcoming mech scheduling...

1 - The Vindicator and the Mauler were both tauted by the forums as the "next" mech despite PGI never saying anything more than that they were working on them.

2 - The release schedule tends to be in sequence by weight class (though the order has been violated a few times [Flea, I'm looking at you]. The trend is Assault-Heavy-Medium-Light.

3 - Recent releases were the Firestarter and the Banshee, which means that a Heavy could well be next. I'm hoping for either a Grasshopper or a Black Knight, but we'll have to wait and see. I suspect it'll be Grasshopper for May, Vindicator for June, Javelin (or Panther or Mongoose) for July, and Mauler for August. The Clans should be arriving in June as well.

Man, right? Maybe we should do a Kickstarter to take the Marauder, Archer, Warhammer, and maybe even the Longbow and Phoenix Hawk away from Harmony Gold. Or hire lawyers to eat them or something.

As for mechs, I'm mostly "meh" on the majority of them. I'd probably master a Grasshopper, but the Mauler is basically a fat Awesome with ballistics (which, okay, sounds pretty rad).

I'd get a Zeus because, duh: Lyran. I'd get a King Crab just because it's so unique. I like the TT Cyclops, but looking at MWO, I'm not sure it really has a place that isn't better filled by other mechs.

Am I the only one that wants a Hatchetman? Long been a favorite of mine. Although I get melee is an issue.

Assassin is a cool-looking mech.

Flea was permabanned a year ago. It is never being released and was replaced with the locust.
