Torn between having wished for such a feature for some time, and my desire to have as much chassis distinction as possible...

Unfortunately, I am guessing they can't just reverse mechs for the same reason they can't just rescale mechs. They'd have to do it the hard way, recreating the flipped sections from scratch.
