'Mech Magic Incorporated is the business name of a highly-skilled group of BattleMech technicians and engineers on Outreach that specialize in upgrading and refitting military hardware. To finance their work the group would form the mercenary unit "Battle Magic". After a few short years of relatively peaceful operations the Battle Magic unit served in the initial stages of the Clan Invasion as a specialist in recovering Clan tech. The engineers and technicians of 'Mech Magic Inc. were among the first to begin reverse engineering the advances of Clan technology for use in the Inner Sphere. After profiting immensely from repairs and refits during the FedCom Civil War, 'Mech Magic would go on to develop the innovative Multi-Missile Launcher as well as aid in the design of a new model of battle armor. These developments attracted the unfortunate attention of the Word of Blake, which resulted in the entire unit being destroyed in 3067 by Wayne Waco.

So they will take your mech, degrade the handling severely by lowering it without camber correction, give it zero upgrades as far as power goes, stick a giant wing on it, and put in a stereo that you have to exit the mech to use safely? No thanks.

I dont think it was ever in doubt if customization would be in. It was more about how it would be done, and this gives us a bit of a hint, but there are still many questions to be answered of how these will actually happen. And will these just be for mercs and not house unit guys?
Still to many question, but man its a good start :-)

Urbanmechs? Back in my day we all got agricultural mechs! And we LIKED IT!
In all seriousness though, the fact that Mech Magic were the guys who also started salvaging and reverse engineering Clan tech gives some hope for seeing Clan tech in player hands before too long.
