Real simple thing..........

Battlemaster 1G has 6 energy hardpoints in torsos. I slap in 2 PPC's and 4 med lasers. On loadout, it llooks like the PPC's have the highest weapon location. Check... good to go. Hit save and.... they're now set in a poor position.

Same with Griffon and other mechs. The builder will not allow us to pick WHICH of the hardpoints for the weapon we want. This needs to be fixed. I'm tired of sniper weapons being set in spots that require me to expose more of my mech, and LRM launchers set in the lowest spot possible, again, requiring me to expose my mech to fire.

Edit: Just to be clear....
It's not that I want to change hardpoints between weapon types. Just let me pick the LOCATION out of the pre-set ones, that I can put a certain weapon.

Doesn't really solve the issue.

"Apparently, the hardpoints have some internal indexing, and the weapons assume the index number of the hardpoint when they are installed on the 'Mech, and retain that "index number" (such that they "remember" which hardpoint they were installed in). As such, the solution quoted above is to sell all examples of the affected weapon(s) and re-purchase them, which gives a set of weapons with "blank index numbers", which may then be placed where one wishes (and which will then assume the "index number" of the corresponding hardpoint)."

The solution: sell your weapon and rebuy it?
Really? Take the hit on the C-Bills?

I'll give it a whirl, but I'll bet you right now, it doesn't fix the problem.

It is a known bug. The visual part (the mechlab UI) does not directly correspond to the data saved server-side. It is waiting for a design decision on how to handle it (how that mechlab<->backend connection should work, what the UI should do).
