It's also home to an event called National Novel Writing Month, which I take part in several years running.
It's a challenge of sorts, writing 50,000 words in a month, the minimum requirement to be counted as a novel I believe. The majority do it for fun and I think some might do it for charity. More than one person have realised their ambitions of getting published/becoming an author out of it.
I know it's not strictly on topic but I wince a little every time I think how completely overshadowed it is by the far better known 'Movember'. As the post above explained, the spelling on the calendar is a nod towards that particular event (or a very convenient typo).
Maybe this year I'll try both?
