BUT the service being still disabled several hours after patch release.. WTF ?!
I hope PGI will refund at least 1 day of premium time...

SCREW this algorythm bullshit. I've played more random FPS matches far more than MWO matches, yet they've offered far better average gameplay than waiting 10 mins to play for 5 minutes.
Give us malcontemts an option for RANDOM MATCHUPS!

We would like to thank you all for your patience. In spite of today's one shortcoming, we are happy that the remainder of the patch remains intact, and thus a full roll-back won't be needed. We were able to receive a great deal of useful telemetry data from your successful and unsuccessful attempts to launch which will help us provide an even better system later on.
The Quickening of Engineers has completed and a couple of changes to the back-end are about to be introduced at 3PM PDT / 6 PM EDT / 10 PM UTC, which should resolve any further matchmaking delays until we can release the next iteration of the matchmaker in a future patch.
The hot-fix will NOT require any patch on your part.
If you click search again at that time, everything will be back to normal. All players in a game will not be affected.
Thank you once again for standing by,
Thanks for the update Niko. Now go have a coffe and a donut. Nobody that's ever been in a similar job would argue you havent earned it. (Formerly of the Atari UK forum moderator team).

But then over-reaction is entirely subjective mate. For $400, I'd turn up at someone's doorstep. People only hand wave because they've got it into their heads that because it's a video game, we should expect it not to work. We *shouldnt* expect it not to work.
That being said, I would'nt blow $400 on a video game, so....
LOL! We all have our vices.
I don't get to play any game very often, but I have the disposable income to put into the one game that I choose to play at a time. For a while I chose to use that disposable income on this game, because I enjoyed the once a week I got to come on and play.
What cSand doesn't realize is that I'm irritated because this is another in a long line of completely preventable screw ups in this game. I had 2 hours to be able to play this week, and the last two hours were it. So now I will be doing exactly what he suggested. I have to go back to the real world, not having had my little down time enjoying a game. It's a minor annoyance in my life as a whole, but it's one that I feel justified in voicing my displeasure about. And certainly one that I would drive downtown to their offices for to speak my displeasure about if I lived in Vancouver.

Does that mean it might come back this week?
Will it be strict 3/3/3/3 or the limit of 4 be issued (that I think more people would like, as it lets the queues average out better and adds some variety while still offering some balance).

Hey I agree, in a perfect world things should work all the time. But it's not the case. Obviously they are trying to get things back running asap, so people need to chill out. It's really not that big a deal. And this is coming from a guy who has also put a good amount of cash into this game

Hey I do get it. I have kids and a job too and stuff too. But your schedule (or lack of, lol) isn't PGI's fault. Bad timing to have a patch fail certainly... but you will survive, I have faith in you
Plus, you ever drove in DT Van? You could get many matches in in the time it took you to get there

may i recomend the following: just get the 2x4x3 mechs and balance the teams by elo. its quick and fair.
PS: just to make this extra clear, its ok to have low elo and high elo pilots in the same match, as long as the teams are balanced. this might even reduce the percentage of roflstomps that regularly accour atm.

Internally yes, however there is no test which can put the same load on the matchmaker that the live environment does. While public testing is very useful for things like optimizations or discovering major edge case bugs, it is, unfortunately, useless for anything which requires the larger population to adequately test at full capacity, such as matchmaking or gameplay balance. The only way we can ever find out for sure how such things will fully play out is to set them loose into the live environment and watch, as we have done here.
Then , as a suggestion, maybe the patches should be tested on the public test servers for 2 or 3 days before they are released live...give players the option to test the "beta patch" there before fully implementing it. It wouldn't be a perfect solution, but it would give increased load testing before the entire community comes on the forums to say the patch broke the game

Can't argue with either point, tho to be fair driving downtown in any major city is a recipe for an early stress-induced grave. Try Leeds. One wrong turn and you're on one-way streets for the next hour, unless they've fixed that from last time I was back in Blighty.

$400 for 1.5 years is around 73 cents a day.
Now compare that with my experience with Diablo 3. $60 for 7 days is $8.57 a day.
Should I break down the doors of Blizzard's HQ in Irvine, California?

I'll do it for you. It's just round the corner, AND the buggers didn't interview me for a job.
