I believe that most of like Tourmaline Desert as part of Mechwarrior Online. I have a couple of ideas for a pair of easily implemented alternative maps, each with it's own challenge.

Ion Storm. Solar Winds have pretty much negated sensor readings, making LRM's and long range sensors pretty much useless.

Meteor Shower. A meteor Shower is bombarding the area. Every 5-20 seconds, a small meteorite strikes the ground. Each impact is at a random location on the map so you never know where one is going to hit. (Basically a single rouge artillery shell)..

I have not voted, mainly because I only like one of the suggestions

I like the idea of an ion storm effectively acting as a map wide ECM affecting both teams, so long as it can be countered somehow, perhaps a tag offering only its user a way to get a target lock outside of 200m (as BAP and NARC would be rendered useless by the interference, as would target sharing and possibly also chat/comms), you would also want some visual interference making aiming difficult outside 600m regardless of zoom, night or heat vision.

I do not like the idea of a random artillery strike every 5-20 seconds (just imagine of it was possible to get headshot by artillery 5 seconds into the game), this could be viable if every 30-80 seconds though, or as random clusters of impacts every 2-5 minutes, possibly with warning given by a few visuals of small impacts for 10-30 seconds before a bombardment

This is what 80% games are already like with ECM and arty/airstrikes.
