Pros
Game is pretty fun to play
Players are very cool and possitive, both sides.
Variation of Mech's are cool.

Cons
Very difficult to configure Mech.
No Match Making that I could tell based on skill level, I was killed very quickly and my dps seemed far too low.

I liked the first day I played and even though I got killed often (bought 3 Light Hero Mechs and earned Cat), I still seem to make money even though I sucked.
2nd Day (today) I pretty much had the same play experience, but made almost no money, which took the wind out of my sails to want to play since the earning path, plus my poor skills meant a very long learning curve.

Although I hope the game continues to grow, I doubt I will login much to play as I felt no progress early on and the MechLab needs to be much better in order for me to get into fixing up my mechs. I couldn't really get a handle on how to build my mech.

I've played Perpetuum Online and the publishers here should consider looking at that build system (at least the interface) as it was immediately obvious how to build my robots. Also you could use a PVE testing ground where the Mech shoot at you in order to get practice (although real game time is practice I suppose, just more stressful).

Wish you the best, and I will check it out again sometime later.
I did really like the crowd though...

Hey Kontrapshun and welcome to MW:O!

If you're having trouble figuring out what to put on your 'mechs, post which mechs you own. People will give you advice - for free! You can also refer to this site: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/

It has a mechlab and the stats for all mechs / weapons / equipment in the game. Cheers!

Yeah, the UI is pretty wonky right now when building mechs. Hopfully they'll change it soon.

As for being killed very quickly and having low dps, you also mentioned that you have 3 light mechs. That's kinda what light mechs do if you play them too aggressively. You're gonna want to try to avoid being targetted as much, and maybe fight by making passing runs, rather than staying in the fight. Also, either attack from the rear, or let your allies charge first.

As for not making money any more, during your first 20-something games, you get a bunch of money for nothing as part of a "cadet bonus". You've probably just used that up. Welcome to making as much money as the rest of us.

You can look for mech designs at mechspecs.com . THey're discussed and rated by the meching community.

Helps with the pain of UI 2.0 especially since they likely wont get to update it until after CW 2.0 next year.

Im guessing you made less money on day two because your cadet bonus ended.

Also skill does help but also have to master your mechs. Your lights don't really start getting good until you get the speed boost .

Watch other light pilots after the games ends. You have to move fast and never stop moving. If you stop a big mech will put you down. Don't play sniper with them. If you pop out of a side hit someone and do it again you will get killed on the second pop.

The skill system is borked for exactly this reason. >_<

Truly, a disgrace to the DCMS :)

I only picked it up because that was my unit affiliation; sadly, I have not been able to drop with them for months due to wierd playing hours

It occured to me that i did not address your OP. lol.

There IS a sort of skill based MM at work, it uses Elo, you will need to play a number of matches for it to properly generate a good score for you.

As for the MechLab, personally i find it incredibly straight forward. Click MechLab -> Select 'Mech -> click Configure -> Click Loadout -> Begin selecting sections to modify.

Work with it for a while, you'll get used to it, and then it'll be second nature.

The matchmaker assumes you're an 'average' player by default. It starts you off in the middle of the pack, which can be a steep learning curve. After you play a large number of matches you should find things more balanced.

U.I. 2.0 is terrible. Configuring mechs is a total pain and I completely agree with you in this regard.

That is kind of the name of the game for light mechs, no armour and few weapons just high speed. If you wish to tank and hit super hard picking an assault is probably a good idea. If you wish to learn your light heroes (which are so much fun) you need to start playing more like an assassin! With that Ember if you put on 4medlas and 4 machine guns and shoot backs or damaged components you will kill things surprisingly quickly, but mgs do very little damage to armour comparatively! so look for the hurt ones! -_-

PPPPPPPPPPFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT....These clans we will get wont make anything fall...

It will be like DDay, Erwin Rommel edition....Entire German army poised on the beach to slaughter the entire invasion force....lol.

Clans will invade, and be murdered cuz are the weapons better? fire faster? further, more heat efficient? lighter? Better overall mechs and pilots? Hell no lol....

This requires a LOT of patience. I still prefer the Jenner, but I have seen the Ember create rivers of rage tears.

While this game does have a huge learning curve, I promise you, if you sign onto Team speak and talk to some guys that are in some dropships, you will learn a lot more. That's basically, how I learned to play

Yep. The best education is other pilots- the worst is attempting to learn through the game itself.

Also, since nobody mentioned it:

http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab

Use this to get an idea of what designs can do and how to build them BEFORE you spend the C-bills.

Also, if you're spending MC- get the Jenner (C) that's on sale right now. For the MC, it gets you a VERY cheap 300XL engine, and that engine will come in handy on many, MANY other designs.
