Great. Bullshit testing by PGI as always. When do you finally accept you are unable to develop a game?

@Quax:
Please leave this game and play WoW, CS:S or something else, thanks

Or did they seriously make it 'drop' damage gradually from 270 meters and under?

That's exactly what they talked about last time I remeber. Scaling them down to zero damage instead of lowering min range. However, they would have ****** up the current game either way, so basically it doesn't matter.

What's amusing me most is if this is how they expect CLAN missiles to perform, they've nerfed them into the ground so hard you can see China on the other side of the hole. We just got an accidental preview of Clan weapon systems.

After all, I really wonder what they will break in the way of fixing the current bug. Any bets? Movement code would be a new thing to break for example .. like you cannot move faster than the "one-legged" maximum. But let's see .. PGI sure will over-deliver on communitiy expactacions :D

Patched then waited forever to get into three matches while picking the recommended class each time. The one that my Cat would launch quickest was my worse match to day. 1260 lrms with a stand in the open team while i was using tag 120 damage. Should have been above 800 easily. went to launch one last time. Some 20 minutes later still no launch. I packed up and left.

Now imagine being new to the game and woefully uninformed as to how things go around here and what would be your conclusion?

Peter principle applies

And then getting cut down by PPC and Autocannon fire.

Have fun with that.

New players are probably not the issue. Keeping old ones probably is.

I was going to play MWO now, but given the fustercluck going on with matchmaking and missiles I decided instead to install Hostile Waters, which I bought from GOG 4 months ago, and start playing that.

It will be the first time in 18 months that I've played a game other than MWO.

(And I just checked teamspeak for my MWO team. None of them are playing at the moment. There's usually 8 to 12 on at this time. After three weeks of busted matchmaking, and things getting more broken not less, we are all just over it at this point.)

As our missiles are currently acting like Clan ones, in a few weeks you can be like a shining golden god, firing off LRMs like they're nothing- because this is how CLRMs will function. They'll be nothing, because when you have to balance two LRM racks when one is half the weight, less crits and less tonnage to get equal performance- this is what you get.

Except you won't be able to mount twice the tubes to get the same results, and you expend twice the ammo to get (charitably speaking) similar performance.

I was having lots of problems with lag yesterday, don't think my weapons were even hitting the target at PBR! most of the time.

They do use the same targeting code, though. Try using SSRMs and LRMs on the same mech and you'll see what I mean.

One lock to rule them all!

Right now we only have "Dead-Fire" SRMs in MWO. And it doesn't look like we'll be getting any other.

That may be, but that has nothing to do with them being armor piercing and/or anti-personal.

They aren't "acting like clan ones". At least for clan LRMs, the ramp up in damage is only supposed to take lace between 0 meters to 180 meters. from then on they do full damage.

Makes sense. I went toe to toe last night with a Firestarter in my Treb (4 streak 2s, 2 MPL) and got crushed. I couldn't believe how many missiles he soaked and kept on coming.

Poor LRMs. They're either the super death murder weapons of doom or nerf launchers.

What, you thought a Clan LRM 20 would function like an IS LRM 20, despite being half the weight, fewer crits, and all that? That you'd get 22 (20 x 1.1) damage out of one no matter what, and they'd only reduce damage inside minimums?

You're funny. I like you.

I wasn't figuring on scaled damage, and certainly not scaled damage at these amounts.

I had been thinking the damage scaling would be for the 0-180 range bracket, and that clan LRM's would be doing around 0.7 the damage of IS. This helps account for the extra ammo tonnage differential they're going to have.

Now if clan LRM's get an ammo/ton increase of about x2 then the 1/2 damage scaling makes at least some kind of sense for balance rather than an outright nerf.

None of that changes that Clan mechs are going to be this:

of the MWO franchise

rather than the classic very deadly clans like this:

I don't know about Canon, but perhaps there was unreported sabotage to weapons, ammo, and other stockpiles of equipment by Clan saboteurs as a preface to the invasion?

Though that doesn't make sense, it seems like it would be against zellbrigen which was still practiced by the clans at least prior to the invasion.

View PostGhost Rider LSOV, on 21 May 2014 - 01:56 AM, said:

1) That would be an IS tactic. Clans are too honor-bound to do something like that. :D
2) Clans like to have a challenge, because they are superior in armament/mechs (at this time), so they bid their forces compared to what the enemy's. Still, they ROFLstomped everything in the beginning, so why sabotage something that can't even reach you? ;)

MWO isn't canon. I quote from sarna "As an official product with a valid license, MWO can be regarded as apocryphal."
Thus, no bidding, no zell, just play.

My guess is scaling effect was added, but not the missile range, since clrms isn't in the database yet, as range would be fixed on individual weapons. Thus, lrms are scaling from 180-1000 and srms 0-270.
