I Am Seriously Wondering If My Money Is Better Spent Somewhere Else.

I look at other games in development and read their forums and I don't see the problems that PGI is experiencing in MechWarrior Online. Even in Star Citizen where all they can do is look at their ships in the hangar bay the players enjoy the experience. I am just not enjoying the experience any more with MWO.

In the end, the poster who said "If you don't enjoy the game, don't play it," is right. But it's a hard thing to give up on something that you really, really want to love.
I love BT and the incredibly detailed universe that was created by FASA. I played the TT for years (won a national one year) and when the original EGA game came out, I played it. I wanted to buy a membership in <can't remember the name of the service =P > but $200 was just too much money (this was a competitor of the early AOL, which at that time was pretty much dedicated to Apples). I played all of the other mechwarriors and their derivatives.
I had about 200 hand painted miniatures. My unit was the Rolling Thunder. Brigade level. Full economy in place. I even wrote stories about MW which were published in <I can't even remember the name of the magazine =P> with photos of my miniatures that I painted.
In short, I was obsessed.
I feel a little like the OP, now. I have loved the entire BT universe (with the possible exception of the Clans, although I do think the universe needed a shove, the Clans are just stupid) and now find myself in the position of logging into this game solo because my son and my friends no longer play due to various factors.
Sorry for the book. I understand the OP and wish him well.

I mean they cant even code the game correctly at this stage. A perfict example, I was shooting a DC Rav from point blank range standing still and no damage... 3 times i shot him in the same place and no damage.. i then started shooting other parts to finaly kill him. There are tomany weird things like this going on for me at this stage of the game.
I will prob be going to SC on the 29th when they install the combat portion of the game... and that will be a sad day for me starting a new game.

This is the part that I don't understand.
Why does it seem like people operate like they have on/off switches?
Is it a ludicrous idea to simply take a break from the game for a little while? Why do people feel like they need to give up on MWO completely? Go play something else for awhile, whether that's a few days, weeks or even months. When you feel like Mech'n again, turn on MWO.

Its a valid point, one I even did for a month. And I personaly am not saying I am gone for good. But like i said its been over two years now that I have stuck with this game even with all the bad ideas that were not tested first... remember when Artums was put in? yo want to talk about one shotting mechs.. that was just crazy. But I stuck with it, it seemed like they were trying. Now it just seems like all they care about is making money and not making a great game that people will talk about years after it is gone.
This could have been Wing Commander or Red Alert.. or even Battletech. But instead its just another shooter.

Hope you are not banking your hopes on Clan bundles. It is high time to understand that simply throwing money does not seem to get the results we desire out of a company like PGI.

I've dropped my fair share of money for MC and other things but must admit I am really disappointed in the lack of information being brought out in regard to clans.
On several occasions I've nearly dropped the $240 for the clan package as I've got my money's worth of MWO and don't mind supporting the cause but haven't taken the plunge do to the lack of information.
Simply tell me what I am buying and supporting rather than some pretty screen grabs and I and possibly more players would support your cause.

There is a lot of frustration possible when you sit and wait for the next patch/feature update/new items ... there will always be mistakes but for PGI the only thing they have done well so far is art work. Not a single feature or development release has gone smoothly or on schedule. This is probably related to their minimal investment in development assets but that is another story.
The litany of possibly sub-optimal design decisions is long ... ECM, ghost heat, gauss rifle firing nerf, LRM balancing, SRM and SSRMs, MGs 1.4 Double heat sinks, ... even the initial weapon values which they have barely touched even in closed beta (they could have started with the BT values of damage/10 seconds for each weapon and then decided on a firing rate for each weapon and scaled damage and heat appropriately ... instead they kept the table top damage values, increased rate of fire differently for each weapon and are surprised when things become unbalanced ... maybe this was tried early on in development but it was before I started playing).
Anyway, with this track record, disappointment and disillusionment is almost guaranteed at some point ... so take a break, forget the game for a bit, maybe take a look down the road and see if it is something you want to play then ...

Most people nowadays think too little about everything and are plain stupid.
You are obviously none of them. I decided to place money on clan mechs though.
Edit: the dockfight module for start citizen is planned for the 29.05. There you can actually fly.

The question is whether PGI can actually stop taking shortcuts and do actual work instead of trying to delay everything because stuff they added is woefully incomplete and... bad things happen when bad code isn't addressed early on (think UI 1.0/1.5) where unmaintainability of the current code makes future fixes more difficult and long.

We tried that back when with Founders Packages, see where that got us. Mostly labeled "not the core audience", so clearly giving then money isn't the way you get their attention, I suspect however the opposite would.
