Hello. I dont usually post in the forums (I think this is my second honestly. The first I know was a Q i asked at the now defunt Ask the Devs), but still I would like to give my support to the OP and frustrations he and others have voiced in this thread and every threads that continously appear where fans of BT and MW voiced their hurt at the state of what MWO is.
There was genuine hope at the start that MWO could be 'it'. I remember the sales pitch, "A day in MWO is equvilent to a day in real life. Make your very own MW story as you always wanted with hundreds of thousands of MW fans as BT history unfolds before you..." The DEVS even tried with lore immersions in the forums where periodically posts would be put up that on today such a such a day in BT universe, an historical event has just happened... I missed those posts. But disappointment after disappointment after disappointment from PGI has made support for MW franchise ever so hard. I can go far as to say PGI is the worst thing to happened for MW, notwithstanding Microsoft letting such a unique license collect dust for more then a decade.
I understand the hurt coming from OP and other countless fans of BT/MW on their islands. The frustrations and disappointments are genuine. It was the early 90s, the one season only Battletech animated series that got me hooked to the BT universe. And my favourite MW game will always be MW2: Mercenaries. So people could probably guess my age (though a lady never reveals her age.
)
I salute those here with forum badges and those who spent quietly on MCs to support the MW IP/franchise, to what is essentially currently an overpriced buggy deathmatch only mode still in open beta level of development game. It shows how a loyal a fanbase can be taken advantage of.
I tried the forum given advice of taking months long hiatus and checking back to MWO several times these past 2 years plus. I will probably give MWO another break once clan mechs drop in June. I salute those who pay what eveyone can honestly agree is an overpriced deal, to spend money as the prices demanded on a game at a state it is in. There are honestly sincere fans of BT/MW who wants the MWO project to succeed inspite of PGI's avalanche of shortcomings. Still the same as much as I love piloting my Dragon, I dont like the prospect of being steamrolled in june just because I chose not to buy a clan package. And I have a feeling a lot of players who chose not to buy clan mechs will take a break from MWO on june as well.
I do however plan to come back and check on MWO in NOV/DEC. I'm guessing the initial shock of clan mechs and clan tech should have faded somewhat with at least some patches of buffing/nerfing taken place to make things balanced and hopefully fun.
So I guess that's the real advice to address the OP is to take a break. The hurt,disappointment and frustrations from us fans who care are genuine. MWO honestly could have been 'it', should have been 'it'. The mismanagement by PGI has been throughly mindnumbing. (Sorry PGI. I tried to be supportive since and through 'open beta' and 'launch' but the continual failures in terms of game development have been too glaring to overlook)
Salute again to those who stay, inspite of PGI. What I've learnt though all of this is that the BT/MW fanbase are as loyal as they come. Salute. o7
On a positive note. Star Citizen is honestly looking very promising. Maybe it could be 'it'. (Though I really still want MWO to be) See everyone in the battlefield, months from now.
