I downloaded the installer which runs and completes in a short time. Then it starts the launcher which tries to download a 4GB patch. This patch keeps crashing saying its a version mismatch. Seems the game isn't actually downloading the game but trying to download the 4GB patch straight away.
Am I missing something?

The game folder is sitting at 11.8mbs

Greetings,

Insure that the initial installer has 'admin' rights for it's install and subsequent download.
- If you have any anti-virus programs they may add a check box to the 'properties' tab that shows"unblock"

You haven't listed what operating system your installing this game on to, or if it's a 32 or 64 bit systems.

- updates may be needed for Direct X (the older9c elements) as well as Net, and C++ components.

Im running Windows 7 ultimate 64bit. I ran the installer as admin.
Im running the repair tool now which seems to be downloading the files for the game.

Where are you trying to install the game to?
Is your Windows UAC still activated?

Greetings,

Your first event error is related to the Net Framework install.

Get the newest Net 4 install here:
http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=17851

But while your at the MS site additionally download and install the C++ updates, found here:
http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=2054

Then do a windows update to gather all the additional updates related to these two new elements.

note if you don't have the older Dx9c install you may need that if you plan on running the game in dx9 mode. At least till PGI get the Dx11 code cleaned up enough that it isn't taxing the GPU so much.
Find it here:
http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=34429

You computer will tell you it has a newer version installed, ignore that and install the 9c, all Dx versions are backward compatible, and nothing will be overwritten.
- Again do a windows update after that install.

I was having similar issues with my new 64-bit Windows 7 PC build, but it turned out to be a bum USB wireless adapter causing the download and installation problems. 2c.
