This thread reminded me of this idea:
http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__2248904

It should be a user configurable option, and should be defaulted to on for all newbies. The idea here is to "hide/block" the "Use General XP" button when it comes time to upgrade a mech efficiency. The idea is for newbies to not use their GXP for the purposes of buying mech efficiencies and rather save up for the pilot modules. The thing is by current UI design (which is really poor at the moment) only shows up options when you have either GXP or mech XP available and more often than not, most new players would use mech XP instead of GXP.

Those who use GXP are ones that are usually spending MC, converting excess mech XP into GXP and wish to not grind the mech out themselves.

The option itself is strictly for newbies, or even the F2P veteran that doesn't want to risk ANY chance of consuming valuable GXP that is slowly being accumulated through the game. Those that use MC/GXP often should obviously disable this... but for the newbies that play the game, I'd rather not see them waste GXP which could have been used for something like the Sensor Range module or Target Decay... where their earned GXP should not be wasted on "Coolrun".

Please take this into serious consideration.

At the very minimum, use VERY different contrasting colors for the "Use Mech XP" button and the "Use General XP" button.

I don't think there should be an option to remove it, as it's a not a major issue at the moment.
What would be better is your suggested use of colour, and/or a "Are you sure you want to use GXP?" prompt when you use GXP to by mech efficiances

The real problem with the current system is the current message and the lack of color usage... so they need to address that #1 point... so it would help newbies out. It's easy to mistake the messages because... they ARE the same message!

The same could be said for buying mechs with c-bills vs MC. The slight difference is that the button for buying with c-bills looks different than the button for buying with MC.

Here is what the prompt looks like:

Even if you guessed right on which button I clicked, the message box is clearly not exactly clear on what you are using to activate the efficiency...

The buttons to activate the XP are waaaay too similar in color.. which can be utterly confusing.

Speaking of which, why doesn't Mech XP has its own icon, like c-bills or GXP?

Today I just misused 21,500 GXP on a master module slot. 2 months of grinding wasted on 1 click.

I just wrote a support ticket because I cannot overcome this complete fail of mine.

21,179 standard XP on my Dragon 1C. Just clicked the wrong button.

By which I mean I'm linking your thread here to my attempted compilation. Come throw a few pennies in and lets see if we can catch the dev's attention please.

I do not do it often - but when I do I am slamming my head against the wall.
(because it always seems to happen on the Elites - once almost on Master)

I would rather just see it take much less GXP to unlock something in a mech tree.
