Hi,
I would like to propose 2 changes for a better balance between teams:
proposal A - Matchmaking
- players are assigned to teams only after a minimum of player (22 or 24) was assigned to a game.
- instead of forcing 3-3-3-3 the target is to distribute mech classes more or less even between the teams
- when players are assigned to teams there are a few rules which are taken into account in the following order:
1. if there is a 4x premade - it will get countered with another 4x premade in the other team - if no second premade is availble it will be countered with 4 players which have a similar or higher elo-ranking (to counter the premades advantage in communication/tactics) with similar or heavier mech classes.
2. all other spots in both teams are filled up by mech class and elo-ranking - means for example if team one gets a heavy with high elo-ranking the system tries to counter with a heavy with also a high elo-ranking in the other team - if non is available then a heavy with a low elo ranking is assigned, if still no one is available a assault is taken
3. in case a team gets player with a high elo ranking in one class and the other team gets only a low elo-ranking in the same class - this will be countered with the next pair of players - means the low ranking player goes to the team which previously got the high ranking player
4. in case no similar mech class can be assignemt the system tries to counter with a heavier mech class - however if more than 1 where available the one witht he lowest weight is taken - for example if a heavy can not be countered with another heavy an assault is taken - picking an Awesome first, then a Stalker, Battlemaster, ...
propsal B - Incentive for 3-3-3-3 or "Soft 3-3-3-3"
As statet before I don't think enforced 3-3-3-3 will ever work because I don't think its possible to force players to do things (like playing mech classes they don't like) they don't want to.
But I do think if there would be an incentive to player other mech classes people might be willing to try - I think a bonus of 20-30% of CB would be just such an incentive.
For example: at the current situation there is an overhead of heavies (35%) /assaults (30%) and there are less lights (20%) and mediums (15%) - in such a case people should get a hint like "lights and mediums are needed, get bonus CB by using one" - players which choose to use one of the later get a bonus in CB: 20% (in this case lights) or 30% (in this case mediums)
