Ok I seem to be having a lot of trouble with the mechlab. I can not for the life of me figure out how to change weapons or even purchase new ones. Is it just me or are the mech variants you buy from the store the only configuration available. I would assume there is a way to customize the weapons and such on each mech. I can view the Mech details but I can not change them. At first I assumed it was not possible to change the trial mechs, so I bought two small mechs. I can not change them either. I also get an error message that says my computer has an incompatible graphics card, but the game seems to run just fine. Someone please help, this is very frustrating.

In Mechlab, there should be a "Configure"-button below the Mechs you bought.

Trial Mechs are not configurable, as you already assumed.

The Mech Details button is an "overview" only, it is nto interactive but mrely a full view of all a mech's sections in one page.

you are correct that you cannot modify a trial mech. Think of it like a rental car- you wouldn't take a rental to a body shop or install aftermarket parts. you don't own it.

First you must purchase a mech.

Then Go to Mechlab, select the blue Configue button below the mech Select Loadout on the left side of the screen.

Select a section, and you will be able to drag & drop items into and out of that section. Note that any mech purchased is already at the maximum tonnage, so you must always remove something in order to add something, or use an expensive upgrade such as Endo-steel to consume free empty slots and give you more free weight.

Hitting Back at the top-left will let you exit without paying. Checkout on the bottom-left is to finalize & pay for whatever changes you made.

We don't know what mechs you bought so we don't know which sections of your mech can mount weapons, and we don't know what type of weapons. But you can go to the sections that do have weapons and you can drag them off, and then you'll have an empty hardpoint and some free tonnage with which to place a new item.

You can also go to the Upgrades tab instead of the Loadout tab, and here you will find the ability to equip Double Heatsinks, Endo steel, and other improvements. Use the Eqiup button ans Unequip button to add or remove upgrades. Upgrades are not cheap, but are a very important part of customizing and personalizing a mech. What upgrades you "should" buy depends on what mech you own and what you plan to do with it, so again, can't offer specifics at this point without knowing what mechs you own.

Note that you get a c-bill bonus for your first 25 matches (hundreds of thousands of c-bills per match) but it doesn't last. Spend it wisely, since you only get one round of cadet bonuses.

I hope this helps get you back on track, feel free to ask more questions and we'll do our best.

BTW, you should've waited till Cadet Bonus is done, but here's smurfy: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab Very helpful mechbuilding website. Remember you need 3 variants of a chassis to master a specific mech, so hopefully both of the small mechs are of the same chassis/something you want to spend time on (or you might want to redo a profile and use the 2 Hours of premium time and hope to get more cash in the Cadet Bonus.)

Thanks for the quick reply's. Here is a link to a video of what's going on. As you can see, when I click configure all I get is a screen of my MechLab and a picture of the selected Mech. There is nowhere I can click to mount or un-mount mods. I wonder if this is a result of the error message when I run the game.

After clicking Configure, you want to go to Loadout and/or Upgrades on the left pane. This lets you change the actual equipment on owned mechs.

Mech Details is currently only showing what a mech has -- this is an unfinished feature used for quick reference, not mech building.

The "mech details" button you clicked on the bottom right only shows what is mounted in your mech. The top left menu bars are what you need (displayed after you click the small configure button below the mech, under mechlab tab).
Loadout allows you to change the parts. Modules allow you to purchase/swap modules on mech. Upgrades are for you to change armor type, internal structure and heat sink type. Camo spec and cockpit are fluff you can add. You can configure your weapon groups under "weapon groups" option.

Do note, FF and Endo-steel (under upgrades) both save you weight, at the cost of 14 internal structure each. FF does not give you more armor, max armor for each mech is fixed. To change armor values, do so under "loadout".

OK. I see. I assumed clicking configure would automatically open the loadout screen. Thank you very much for the help

Welcome to MWO, where the fight starts with the UI. ;) Be sure to check out the guides. The game is pretty hard.

So I see. This is not exactly the MechWarrior games I played when I was younger. I sure would like to see my favorite mech the Uziel in the line up. I did pretty well online with that in MW4. I usually mounted an ERPPC on each arm and some SRMS in the torso. It had heat management problems but it was fast and it hit hard.

Uziel is from the wrong year. Battletech spans many decades & centuries with different mechs, technology, and factions present in different parts of the timeline.

If you want a couple of ERPPCs and an SRM6, there are lots of mechs that will let you do that, they will just be a different body shape than the Uziel. I know that the Uziel's unique look is part of the appeal, but it's just not an option in 3050.

Also, mechlab will allow you to click on mech details for those mechs and purchase there, sorta stupid but just click purchasable on the left hand corner. Smurfy gives all the info too. Just gonna say that for those lights you bought, the Spider 5V isn't gonna be very useful for you, though the 5K and 5D are more fun. 5V at max lets you hold one LPL, and while you can fly like an eagle, it still isn't very useful compared to, say the 5D. Commando 2D is gonna be nice with ECM, but you will need something like RVN-3L's engine in order to properly run it. It's gonna be tough on both ends of lights, but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. Good luck BigZim437. ;)
