Whats With Everyone Using Lrms Now?

Somehow I keep on getting kills on ac/ppc mechs I catch on a flank, with TAG and direct LOS. Chain firing 50 ALRMs disrupts their aim, and they typically die or get shredded while retreating before they do too much significant damage.
Biggest problem I run into is when a premade meta focuses on me because I'm the only person on my team not playing like a coward.

Taking pop shots at Light Mechs with LRMs?
There's no way you're holding your own if this is your LRM Tactic.
(Perhaps, and hopefully, you meant that you wait for your Light to get you a target)
LRMs are in a good place at the moment.
It no longer feels like dead weight to carry 1x LRM10 into battle - they've come in handy for me quite a few times.

Not true. I drop in matches that a lot of the time contain high elo players on both sides and there are still multiple LRM boats every game.

The queue was sitting at 50% assaults, 30% heavies and 10 / 10 for lights and med's. Nearly every one of those assaults were LRM boats.
It's an easy way to get kills and damage during the tournament so that's why people are spamming them.
It's already old though after only 3 days. REALLY hoping it's a temporary situation as nothing worse than these LRM matches where both teams sit around for 15 minutes doing nothing but trading LRM volleys. I frankly have much better things to do with my time.

but in the last week? why is EVERYONE spamming lrms? its so DULL
I can do it, same as everyone else, stand at the back of the map, wait for the token light to poke his head around the corner, target, hold down lrm-tard button, wait for next target.
why would anyone want to play this way? I genuinely don't get it? How is this fun?
when it was a couple of lrm boats per team, you could use cover, equip ecm or ams, there were things you could do.
now? I've died within 3 seconds of breaking cover 4x tonight. in Heavies... with full armor...
so dissapointed, I don't play an lrm boat, the key is in the sentence, I don't PLAY an lrm boat. I can DO it, but it's not PLAYING, its WORK. I play this game for fun, I don't get the fun of lrm boating, and now that everyone is doing it, theres no fun in the rest of the game.
I guess I finally see why my friends stopped playing. I'll check in a couple of months, but I think I've finally lost all hope. Farewell.
I also am obviously in ELO hell and see LRM-based teams quite often.
Regardless of the usual rules (use cover, stay together with the AMS mechs etc.) here are four possible outcomes to such encounters:
- My team got competent lights going for harrass and we have LRMs by ourselves. The enemy is scouted well and the LURMers duke it out. Usually a win for me.
- We got good ECM cover. Only very few LRM-based teams work with competent spotters. So having ECM cover on two/three mechs makes LURMstorm irrelevant.
- My team is metabuilds, actually communicates and realizes the enemy is LRM-heavy. We storm the boats. 1 or 2 of us die during the storm, but the LRM boats get ripped up hard. Usually a win.
- None of the above, my team is ridgehumping and taking potshots at the enemy. We die. Horribly in a hail of missiles.
LRM boats punish cowards.

We got slaughtered because the other team was ecm/sniper heavy, and when I was the only guy making any effort to spot my own targets, I of course got chewed up pretty quick. I was pretty infuriated by the blatant cowardice/laziness of the other six lrm boats.

Not all LRM Boats are driven by LRM specialists. Some are just wannabe, thinking it's easy points and money. It happens. Getting angry over it won't stop it.
Just make sure when you see a Wannabe LRM Boater on the other team, sink it good with your own LRM wetwork.

LRM boating is a valid tactic, though when a weekend event means everyone starts using them, even those that have no business attempting it (contrary to popular belief, it IS possible for an LRM boat to be 'good' or 'bad' at their job)... Then there's a good chance something's wrong with the game.

Run a 6xMG JM6-DD. See how that works for you. Now, do 4xMG 2xLBX10 and then we're talking, that thing is nasty.

Yep, it's important to graduate from LRM hell to PPC/AC hell. Remember, there is always a more frustrating hell to move up to.
BTW. I don't know what ELO bracket a 2.0KDR slots a person at, but that is where I am now and I was in LRM hell a couple nights ago. I am not sure the whole "get into a better ELO slot" applies.
I'm not claiming to be a great player, but I am sure I am better than the lower ELO brackets. I am pretty sure the LRM hell is extending across all ELO brackets.

Conversely, if you are the only low ELO player in the player pool at the time... good luck.

I know some people who will not move from the back of the line playing their LRM boats. Me on the other hand, you'll find me always in the middle somewhere because LRMs are more effective the closer you are (unless you are staring at giant hills they can't go over).
