i don't know know why everyone gets so upset about the op....preemptive whining and a few derogative statements about other players (and the general playerbase)...that's quite entertaining.
btw: new word for everyone to learn and embrace..forward whinefense...when you need to defend your prefered playstyle with a creative strategy. :D

all you can come up with is a cheap reaction gif instead of any constructive reply.
His statements ring true though.
People with that "I have to win at any cost"attitude who play the cheapest builds make it harder for anybody who doesn't want to play a cheap build to enjoy the game.

we got a dead ringer here.

so your saying that those that play the cheapest builds play those builds because they themselves cant actually compete?

i think my mind=blown.

You know what skill is, me in a fire starter with 1 arm knocked off 1 v 6, running through frozen city night hit and run, using their zombie mech and a shield and killing 4 of them. Or recognizing that in a 2 v 2 brawl you blew the hunchoff the HB and switch targets to that Stalker your buddy has been fighting in his medium rather than worry about dropping a mech with 1 laser that's what skill is. The ability to know what can change the outcome of a fight, not get 6 kills and lose and ***** your team out for doing "nothing" even though you were hiding in the background and not holding targets for possible LRM support.

Agreed.

Here's some more skill. (Scores; how they were acquired, some vids)

Some vids of poptarting and non-poptarting to show a point.

lol no
Nobody should have to play your ****** style of play because you say so.
"just get good at it"?
Really?
Get good at the cancer that is killing this game?
If you think your style of point and click is hard then you should be playing a different game
"hur dur meta is hard"
Just because an incompetent person says something is hard doesn't mean it's hard.

No one says you have to play the meta game. But you better learn to over come and adapt to the meta and find ways that work for you to beat it.

Long story short, hiding behind hills with PPCs is supremely efficient for the amount of skill it takes to do (i.e. it's far easier to pull off than it is to counter).

This is what typically happens when games are balanced "from the top". High level players have no trouble dealing with it since it can be countered, but it tears apart low level play since it's so much more effective than anything else those players can do.

The "sit and wait for ten minutes" metagame that is random matches falls into the same category, it's far easier to defend than it is to attack, since defenders will focus the first attacking mech they see without communication, whereas attackers have to have communication to focus one of the defenders.

Balance like this can work, but there have to actually be better options than the "easy" strategy, or else everyone from the low to the high end uses it. Judging purely from competitive matches, there currently aren't many. So not only is it hurting low level matches, it's hurting high level matches as well.

We can wait on PGI to balance things out, or just not exploit a broken system in the hopes that others do the same and make matches more interesting. Looks like the majority just wants to wait on PGI...

The pop tart meta, is nothing new. We had this before jump jets got changed with regards to effecting "pop tarting". It is a symptom of PGI's inability as developers to provide checks and balances to tactics/builds. With brawling remaining crippled since closed beta, and collision removed from the game that game has regressed to its current state.

There is a reason alot of those with founders packs are playing other games. Nothing to see here, we have been here and done this already. We have a new influx of sheep crossing over from other FPS games who think MWO is just another FPS, and that simple FPS logic should be applied here. You have to understand alot of these guys did not play during closed beta, they didn't experience splat cats, or getting knocked down for being a bad light pilot and instantly destroyed. They don't know what it's like to be scared of an Atlas at point blank range, with three six packs of SRM's back when they actually hurt. They don't understanding brawling. And thanks to PGI they never had too, and they probably never will, this game will continue it's current trend till it collapses.

Let the "pro gamer high elo" players who don't actually know their elo score argue over who is the best battlefield 4 recon class, it's pointless. Nobody in MWO has anything to fight over, no planets ,no territory, no community warfare in sight. Empty promises we all heard back in closed beta. Alot of players have figured this out, and alot of team-speaks have turned into ghost towns because of it. The coming of the clans will be the nail in the coffin that finally puts this game out to pasture.

Your reading comprehension skills are atrocious, and your conclusions flawed. You seem to me to be incapable of maintaining an argument while remaining accurate.

You obviously feel some need to dictate what others should play yet have made claims that others are doing just that, do you actually make an effort to be paradoxical>?

ad hominim attacks will do you nothing. i am not starting an argument with you. you and your friends are starting a fight with me (your memory seems to be very poor.... just put the ipad down it doesnt help your ability to associate facts with memory).

i am responding to a name and shame that should already have been locked by the mods. which means you and your friends are attacking me publicly for TK'ing someone ingame (note how i take responsibility but i still dont name and shame back). which you are now partaking in with your personal attacks. of which conduct is against the rules. cheater cheater pumpkin eater ;) i cant help it if you dont have brain cells that rub together the right way.

hands you a cookie.

my personal opinion is that ALL builds are usefull somewhat, but a team should only have 1 or 2 of ANY kind, to allow for balance and varience. IE 2 LRM boats is enough, 2 poptarts is enough, 2 scouts, 2 brawlers, 2 support med and 2 flanking heavies sound like a great team. i could really get down on some tactics with that kinda setup :D.

12 poptarts sounds like crap and quite frankly boring. which is basically what you and your friends are advocating. so what do YOU think the other 8 of your team are supposed to be to compliment your 4 man poptart squad? eh?

have you even ever thought about making a build that supports your team? or do you just enjoy being a glory hound "win-at-all-costs". because the latter is a personal problem and you should probably see someone about that before it becomes a public problem.

cookie hands you

My ELO is high enough that I get matched up against people like Twinky Overlord, Heimdelight and plenty of other people whose names you might recognize fairly often.

Looking at my stats, my best mech is my meta poptart dragon slayer, which I'm sad about because I try much harder on most of my other mechs. Most of my ELO (wins) comes from my light mechs though as I tend to play light mechs (or an ECM cicada) around 80% of the time I'd say.

So even though a meta poptart is my best mech and I play against other meta poptarts all the time, I have to say I hate it and wish it would die too. I want to try some more amusing builds but because of the ELO bracket I'm in it's really not that feasible. Thank goodness that lights can get away with MLs or ERLLs & ECM otherwise I probably wouldn't play at all.

This isn't what happens when you balance from the top. The competitive scene has offered numerous suggestions to fix the problem, the majority of which are focused on JJs, that leave ground based use of PPCs and autocannons alone. On the ground those mechs are not a problem at all. It's jumping that is.

You know what, I can half agree with this. The portion I agree with is you've offered suggestions PGI has ignored. How I feel differently is the main issue with those weapons is how they do full critical damage from 1 point breaching armor. Between being able to snapshot those weapons and the crit damage. That's why they are the Meta.
