PGI "balanced" clan firepower with a lot of vicious nerf like:
- low weapon mounts, you must expose yourself to shoot
- clan AC spraying damage, you must stay exposed to shoot
- almost no poptarter

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b45ba25d7f40a16

The ERPPC are in the "nose", just below the cockpit. It can be described as "high mounted". You can see it, you can shoot it. It is what i like. You can deal 20 pinpoint + 10 splash without exposing much of your face.

On top of that you have some jump jets for poptarting (behind teamates or cover) and general mobility. Since the ERPPC are quite high mounted, you don't have to jump that high.

The 4 ER medium lasers are a fine secondary weapon for "open field" combat. Better use them in chain fire to manage heat.

So... before invasion, i was only playing with AC40 Jagers and 2PPC/AC20 Misery... I had difficulties to adapt with clan.. They dont fit my play style... But this one is great: shoot hide, shoot, hide ^ ^. Something running in the open ? Lazor it. From point blank to extreme range, it works well.

Have fun.

Timberwolf is actually crazy good right now.

Carries more firepower than a Victor with just a little less useable armor.
Almost as fast and maneuverable as a shadow hawk.
Two JJs let you jump better than 3 on the Victor.
Can carry all the meta builds.

See:
TBR-S

Notice how the entire left side is used as a shield.

I don't know about 2 JJs being as effective as 3 on the Victor...

Victor can do AC5s, Timber cannot.

Victor's arm is a better shield, CT doesn't stick out.

Also, the build you have there is the first one I tried, but I found that if your Gauss gets critted it can leave you weaponless. Putting the PPCs in the side torsos and Gauss in the right arm seems to work better for me, you lose your shield torso but don't risk blowing out your entire weapons loadout once someone gets to your right CT core.

AC40Jags and 2PPC/AC20 Misery have :
- weapons near the cocktpit (not only high mounted, bu also "thight" mounted)
- pin point, instant, high alpha

And also i'm a big user of UAV, seismic, BAP and Target A Gathering

How i play ? I dont brawl, i use cover, try to not move (seismic) and weakened ennemies are priority targets (that's why UAV and things).

This mech, with nose mounted ppc.. For me, its not like a Victor that must jump high enough to put his arm over the cover. This timberwolf dont have to jump high. In fact, poptarting is not the only option. You can hide beyond hills or corners of building and open fire, without duration, without exposing much of yourself.

The new module radar depivation, not tried it yet, but will be nasty.

Victor's arm is a better shield, but on the TBR you can use the left arm AND the left ST.

Also, the TBR doesn't need the AC-5 anymore. You can do decent DPS shooting 1 ER PPC at a time with 1 gauss at point blank. IMO it somewhat neutralizes one of the crucial advantage of the AC/5 + UAC/5 combo for the Victor, which was life saving short range dakka given that the PPCs on the Victors didn't work within 90 m.

I've had that happen twice to me so far. Still experimenting.

On my TBR prime I have the loadout you describe. On my TBR-S I have the loadout with 2 ERPPCs on the arm. Thus far it's bee a wash. Most of the matches so far I've gotten to keep my full weapons load longer with the 2 ER PPC on the arm layout, and I suspect that convergence is a little better. On the other hand, ST ppc config has done pretty well too, and the PPCs are mounted higher.
