There is nothing wrong with the Quickdraw. Its upper torso is tanky as hell. If you are getting your legs shot off you must be jump brawling excessively.

Hill humping or medium range skirmishing are both viable.

QKD-4H

I run this on the 4G too.

Works like a charm.

My 5K I run 4 MPL and 2 LL with lots of DHS, works pretty well as long as you exert some form of fire control over yourself.

Do searches on these forums, there have been multiple threads regarding issues with the Orion.

Fine example on why this game is failing.

Its failing because someone complains about a mech on the forums and you automatically think it is garbage? Dont be a sheep, Orions can be great, when piloted correctly.

You think because you like a mech it's competitive? Dont be naive. The Phract is a better mech than the Orions.

The size of the QKD will always been its biggest downfall. Same issue as Trebs.

This whole thread stinks of LTP

The pilot is what makes something "viable"

So really the name of this thread should be "
Pretty Sure The Quickdraw 4G And 4H Are No Longer Viable (when I pilot them)

6 ballistic hardpoints on the Dragon 5N please!

(and say hello to six machine guns... I guess it is a "compromise" til melee damage is put in)

Have you even played an Orion? They are subpar mechs to the point they are useless. Why do you think they are rarely used. They feel like they are made out of paper compared to a Phract. About the only thing they are good at are LRM support.

This is what makes MechWarrior Special. You can feel like master of all mechs, while someone else can take a "Trash mech" and get 1k games, but use a "meta" mech like the phract and just do decent. You just haven't spent time in one, or it doesn't mesh with the speed and style you play the game, THATS whats cool about mechwarrior.

That being said, I don't play in competitive teams... but there will always be a supreme meta in those "pro" games anyways regardless to game balance etc...

My statement above holds more true in the real queue (see, PUG queue, what most people play in), you can get away more with any builds you want on any chassis.

This man, totally.

I can't fight my way out of a paper bag in my CTF-4x.... give me my QKD-4H though and it's on like Tron

lol, learn to pilot.
I do not agree with Dontor on....well anything lol, but this is true. I use Orions to great effect. In the right hands, they are death dealing monsters.

I may just have to. And it isn't just the quick draw the list of mechs that are not effective do to scaling or hit boxes is pretty lengthy.
Quick draw
Dragon
Trebuchet
Awesome
Commando
Thunderbolt
Wolverine
Blackjack (other than the ac20 build)
Highlander other than maybe a poptart build
Battlemaster ( other than 1S) otherwise banshee or Victor still does it better
Orion is subpar
Catapult other than the K2 and A1
The Hunchie no point
and Centurion still has moments were it shines.

But aside from that the only mechs worth taking are the victor,3D phract, shadowhawks, firestarters, jenners, banshees, atlas (1 trick pony), gryphon has its moments

I know ngng podcast said they are working on perks for each mech, but some mechs just are out of whack.

wait what no point to a hunchie? gotta be kidding me. They still have some of the best KDRs and DMG per match ratios on my account.

I love my -5K... Am largely ambivalent toward the others.

Quickies are an all-or-none mech... Either they work for you or they don't.

IMHO it distills down to how invested a pilot is in making a particular design work... The Quickdraw requires quite a bit of discipline.

Oh, and a little bit of luck... :D

Orion V is one of the best LRM boats in the game...VA aint bad for that neither.

I have to agree on the V. It's a tough piece of work.

See above. Not that my Cataphract-2X is bad, but I swapped up to an Orion-V for this factional tournament and was pleasantly surprised. Heck, for the factional I didn't even have it past basic pilot profs!

Yes I play Orions and Thunderbolts which appear on that list. In no way are they subpar. They are tanky as hell. Even the ones I put XL in feels fairly durable. Also if you are LRM boating with either chassis you are doing it wrong.

Pssh. ALRM-15x2, ER LL/TAG on the energy hardpoints, twin MGs for me. Takes a licking, keeps on ticking and those MGs have saved my bacon more than once thanks to how fast they shred internals. With speed tweak, I've got a 75kph, well-armored killer- and the V is nice in that I can poke from around a corner with the left-side launchers or the right side ERLL mount, depending on how beat up I am at the time.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...582fcd79fb061f4

Most T-bolts don't have the roomy enough missile hardpoints to do it right, but the Orion's 15/20/15 hardpoints are perfect for big launchers. The -5S gets decent chops with a 20/10 hardpoint layout, but the other T-bolts are better off only using LRMs as secondary weapons rather than primary.
