Quit bitching. It is exactly as expected from Clan mechs, fugly.

Separately, calling MW3 or MW4 cannon is pretty silly. Look at the Sarna pic, not at low-poly optimized garbage from old games.

Well, yeah. But even in THIS Sarna picture the hood of the Dire Wolf is still a bit SMALLER, than the huge Elvis-style, wig-like hood of the PGI's Dire Wolf. -_-
Just look closer!

Honestly, my only complaint is the length of the section protruding over the cockpit. Should be just a bit shorter...that is about all that looks out of proportion. While I am not super crazy about the cockpit shape, it really does not bother me much.

The huge hood on Dire wolf and warhawk are so exaggerated they should give a bonus against airstrikes and arty.

That was one of the quite proper examples I was talking about. :P
As for me, I still like this very Daishi, though I played MechWarrior 4 more then twelve years ago. ;)

I'm just wondering about the hit boxes, it's gonna be odd with that hood, LRMs are gonna hit one area a lot.

Hood doesn't bother me that much. (It could be receded a bit, and I wouldn't complain.. but I'm not complaining now- moot point.)

I'm just happy to see more reverse knee mechs. I personally think the humanoid mechs are.. well.. ugly.

There's no such thing as beautiful Daishi mech. At least I've never seen one, and I looked thoroughly.

It honestly is not that bad. The gold one looks bloated sure but the other pictures look fine.
Now the Timber Wolf, THAT was hit with the fat and ugly stick.

It is what it is. Do I wish the modelers would have stuck closer to the concept art? Sure, but it's too close to the preorder launch for them to be changing stuff up now.

Greetings all,

For any of these new Mech's designs there might be some concerns that are being addressed with reference to any past Mech offerings from PGI.
- Fitting the actual cockpit inside the Mech chassis.
- The design, art, and rendering departments as well as the game programmers all know about the past issues with the Mech's not being large enough to fit the game cockpit inside the Mech.
- Possibly this is the first of the updated designs that fix that issue.

I do agree, that this Mech design is or has something 'off' in it's image, but that may change when we actually see it rendered and operating in-game.
- The 'hooded engines' that are iconic for some of the Clan Mech's do need some 'art love updating', and all the current chassis we have now are getting second and third pass's from all the departments involved, so there may yet be updates inbound for many of these classics.
- There is yet to be any announcements about any Clan IIC variants arriving within the IS borders, they are second line elements that carried out garrison duties on captured locations. Some produced within Clan space locations, others from retooled IS factories. But that can't happen till after these Planet or orbital facilities are actually captured.

Waiting to see how it looks in-game,
9erRed

Looks fine in my opinion. Its an assault mech and its boxy and burly like one. The previous examples from other MechWarrior games look like toads while the PGI one looks like a dumptruck. Fitting.

I actually think the hood on PGIs direwolf is much better than MW3 or MW4. Don't get me wrong I loved MW3 but I am a bigger fan of the tabletop RPG and Tabletop mini game. In the original art that hood is supposed to stick out, its cover for the CT. Older games didn't have enough polygons to render it properly is all. If you want to complain about any mech it would be the Timberwolf its oddly flat and stubby looking

I'm sure it would look nicer with a couple of improvements. Maybe some ornate etching around the hull, or a roof garden on top of that big flat hood. It has so much pod space, you could easily spare some of it for a breakfast nook or bathroom.

The deed is done. It could be nicer, but it doesn't look like the abomination some people are making it out to be. I guarantee you that the first thing you think when finding one of these around a corner isn't going to be "hmm, that nose could be a little shorter, and the hood is too long for my taste".

I think, having played against all the clan mechs on the PTS, that they look far closer to the concepts in-game than the marketing pictures suggest. I think the artists who put the clan pack pictures together applied some kind of FOV setting that makes all the pics look slightly fish-eyed. Granted, the Direwolf still has a honkin-big nose, but not quite so much as the marketing material shows... and much closer to the concept art. The Warhawk looks much better in-game as well.

Compared to Canon and all the other "good looking" renders of the Diashi, the MWO is just bloated on its Torso's (Rt/Lt/Ct).
Arms and Legs and waist are pretty spot on, just the CT area could use a more compact look.

Its passable I guess, but its much taller and much wider midsection make it easy to hit.

The warhawk is pretty spot on, not sure why the Diashi got the bloated whale treatment, but PGI isn't going to spend any resources on content that is so new and "good enough".
