It just seems to me that the current public test implementation is a little cumbersome, which might be contributing to low participation.

1. The server is not up 24/7 (as it should be)
2. Players are not informed via email that there is a public test, i dont even know if there are ingame notifications or anything that there is one.
3. The public test operates for a very limited time only during (presumably) canadian business hours, which basically excludes everyone who is working or in a non-compatible time zone
4. Past attempts to provide feedback from public tests (see : UI 2.0 and the matchmaking fiasco) have basically resulted in no acknowledgement from PGI and the test version going live to predictable results. Once people realised this, they stopped bothering to give feedback.

^So true^...this point has been made multiple times... I've complained about it myself in posts.
How can PGI expect reasonable participation in public test events when they hardly give 48 hours notice of extremely short windows during the working week? They need to re-engineer their public test process / equipment / etc to allow for full weekend events, give ADVANCED notice (maybe even have regularly scheduled events monthly? Seems there's more than enough to test out...), and give some sort of incentive to those who participate!!! I'm sure they'd see a good return on investment.

Test server participation is low because PGI does not listen when people say, "UI 2.0 is garbage".

No doubt, I was mainly trying to suggest ways to correct the issue. I know that what you have outlined is exactly why I have never participated.

Yeah, really.
I have it installed, I was hoping I could log into it to try out clan mechs or something...if they were there.
However, im sure after 3 or 4...or 50 times trying to log in and it saying...acct not authorized, players give the hell up.
Its PGI fault for that entirely.
Then they only leave it up for certain times of the day....soooo...

Just take a leaf out of smites book, give mechbay or something to people who complete 10 matches on it or something.

THIS! Last few times they trotted out the Public Test servers, those of us who participated told PGI, "Hey now, there's some big issues here" and PGI said, "No, you're stupid and don't know what you're talking about, everything is going to be fine."
...right
