I was looking around the forum and I noticed someone posted this screenshot of mechwarrior 2.

Now is it so broken to have unique paper dolls like this and don't throw the "But the extra armor!" stuff either if they did this they could make those parts have less armor because if the Timber Wolf has ears lets face it whats the bigger target its center torso only? No its the ears as well so you can say destroy the ears and destroy the weapon but not the side torso cheaply getting rid of two birds with one stone! The computer could say "Left Missile rack destroyed" but no you say that would be broken but in real life it kinda does make sense I know it would make sense if it got destroyed piece by piece but just go with me on this ok? I know you say that balance takes place before what make sense but lets face it if Timber wolves like the way they are now they will be torn apart because of the way they made the paper doll work now if they all had their unique paper dolls and I do not mean just the clan mechs the IS mechs can have it as well I am pretty sure more mechs could find more survivalbility also if you know the hud options as well as I do there is different ones for the heat level and the way it shows whats damaged. Like I would prefer a bar graph to show my damage but there was one for your heat it was like a little circle thing that fills up.

I know its a mess of wall of text but in conclusion I would like different HUD options and unique paper dolls for each and every mech. The pen and paper kind of paper doll just dos not cut it anymore and Activision knew that. Well before anyone says that Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries did not have that didn't you know that game was kinda rushed?

Umm... paper dolls are just graphical representations so you can easily pick out the different locations at a glance on your HUD. They don't depict the actual hit boxes.

Your right but still Mechwarrior 4 did what I just said here right now actually. But you know you must admit some people want to know the specific damage of their parts not just from a paper doll.

Its late at night forgive me Jack I cant think straight with all that Nostalgia lol.

What versions of Mechwarrior 2 had the unique paperdoll? I remember playing one that did early on when I was 5-ish (how do I remember that?), then I started playing versions that didn't, and the versions of Mechwarrior 2 that I have now all have the same stock paperdoll.

Taking a wild guess here but I am guessing it was the ghost bear expansion.

Nope. I own two versions of Ghost Bears (DOS and Titanium) and both have the stock paperdoll.

AFAIK, the Titanium pack enforced the same paperdoll across the board. Sadness happened.

In any case, this idea is pretty much Lostech, along with HTAL indicators.

I think it was Karl Berg that said something in his thread that wouldn't be used. It could have been some other thread with quotes from a dev...

Either way, we're not going to see it AFAIK.

In MW2 Mercs they have a standard Paperdoll bcs of the increased Mech-count (I have the best, the Titanium Edition of MW2).

PGI still misses the chance to offer alternatively HTAL bars...

I prefer HTAL bars anyway. The colored picture doesnt tell me anything.

Cool, so my torso is yellow......ok, now its orange....red? ok..cool, so its almost dead...but how almost dead is it?

HTAL bars give it to me much clearer.
