The original Marauder
Posted Image

Or the various Alt Configs for Marauder IIC?
Posted Image

Or are both of these unseen?

I ask this because if the second one isn't an unseen design? Would people be okay with using that? Personally I prefer that design, even though I grew up with Mech Warrior 2's Marauder IIC (which looks like the first Marauder). It also seems to make more sense for MWO's style of mechs.

Edit: Dangit, I also keep making the typo of "Maraurder" instead of Marauder today. Ignore the typo in the title.....

The top one is the "Unseen" version.

as are

Basically, these versions are the ReSeen
Marauder

Marauder II

Marauder IIC

But even those have been redacted in newer publications, apparently due to possible continued pressure from HG.

They will not touch them.
Not even the redone Projekt Phoenix ones.

It would be nice to atleast have one of the substitutes. Nightstar and Maelstrom.

Thank you. I was just curious.

Marauders are something I probably would never pilot (along with most assaults in general), I just liked seeing them on the field in MW2 just because they are so bizarely different from most mech designs and it's fun to see the giant balls of death (PPCs) in that game as I avoid them because they are so rediculously slow.

Bandersnatch too. Rather liked the Bander. Dragonsfire was always overlooked due to it's horrid art, proabably.

I didn't know about the Dragonsfire. I like it. Nice drawing, too.

The original and Marauder 2 are probably the only ones that would technically fall under the original copyrights, but that's not the issue. The re-seen designs are definitely far enough away that any lawsuit from HG based on them would fail. The problem, however, is that HG could drag it out in court long enough to put a serious financial hurt on PGI, if they got a hair up their butt. Winning while going bankrupt would be a mite Pyrrhic.

Sorry for my lack of legal/copyright understanding, but how can HG do anything at all (and why would they) if they don't own the re-seen designs?

Because if they claim there's a legal problem, the law gets involved, and PGI won't be able to use the thing until it's settled, so there's no point in even trying.

Because, unfortunately, you don't actually need a legal leg to stand on to file a suit, and it still forces the defendant to expend time and resources dealing with it. Nobody really knows that HG would bother with the re-seens. They don't seem to have gone after Catalyst or Ironwind Metals (the mini makers). But PGI is unwilling to take the risk, since it could be devastating if they did.

And what Vassago said.

Canadian Law at that.

Very different sets of Laws up there, then here, plus HG would have to try and throw a fuss via international Laws too....either way PGI wins and HG gets the stuffing they so richly deserve.
