In WoT it also compensates the person you shot with to try and offset the repair bill. I never see TKers in that game now.

I hope it works like this. The person who shoots a team mate should pay the bill plus an extra penalty.

FF is a must but the leader should be able to make "corrective" hits to players that are being or doing the stupid actions (JUST JOKING)

Only problem I see, and see constantly with FF no matter the game, is teammates stepping into the line of fire and getting killed cause they did not check first or just plain ignored that their teammate is currently firing their weapon and as a result it would probably be a bad idea to step out in front of it.

Those are the people that you need to ignore in matches, don't group with them, or if they are in your match you let them run off on their own. They can be a tactical advantage of being the first ***** to die and take the attention of the enemy

I hope this is implemented. Even though I am a support guy, I think it will make it more strategic and thus more fun.

It will also add to the realism.

I was not aware of that - that is cool! I tend not to be on the receiving end of friendly fire, as I watch where I am driving (usually)... I have had some trouble with folks crossing right in front of me as I am firing, though (hence how I know the way it works from that end, lol).

Sorry if this was posted and answered elsewhere, but do we know the status of friendly fire yet? I like the idea that splash damage and accidental or careless hits from adjacent mechs are possible - especially in a rapidly moving scrum.

If friendly fire is implemented does it have negative consequences? (i.e.- reduce your income as you have to pay out part off your share to repair friendly mechs?)

In one of the gameplay videos I recall someone saying "Oops, almost shot my teammate."

I think that presupposes friendly fire, unless he was just referring to the animation.

The devs have already addressed this here, saying that it will be included.

In one of the video interviews the e PGI guy commented "oops, almost hit a friend here"

You either don't play much, or are ridiculously lucky. I see friendly fire frequently. Though rumored to be adjusted in 7.4, currently, the penalty for team damage is extremely minimal and the compensation for repairs to the person damaged is laughable. I wouldn't quite label it as "rampant", but it happens fairly frequently. (I'm talking griefers firing on team mates).

I hope it does have FF penalties as it would only make the game better.

The concern is obviously the ability for griefers or uninvested playerss to wreak havoc. If I can create a new character with new mech to hop into a game just to cause chaos then abandon that character immediately afterward there is the potential to drive players away (or insane). Consequences have to have meaning in order to be consequnetial. I still believe that FF has to be in the game or it will lose the immersion quality I am looking for.

Good luck trying to the find the balance devs

I play daily, I haven't been hit by intentional FF in over 3 months. I've also have done the griefing and penalty really really hurt.

I'm behind FF but I could image that some groups would possible make throw away accounts just to have a "MECHAGADDON" FF day. I'm not say which kind of group of people would do this but I think we could all take a good guess.

Haha oh geez friendly fire is always a must for mechwarrior games.. although I fear the accidental smack of an autocannon/gauss rifle/ppc that is likely to happen at some point! xD

There is FF. They haven't said if there are any FF penalties, but I imagine there would be a reporting system. Splash damage is fine. Intentional team killing should be at least a kickable offense.
