It got alpha strike one-shotted before it could step off the production lines. Consider it a mercy killing.

I still dont see why MASC has to be finished for the flea to be released. I mean its going to be worthless with or without MASC anyway.

The Flea is of the same tonnage and body-type as the Locust.
And, despite the "flea" name, none of the standard-tonnage variants are jump-capable (and, with how MWO has been treating "presence of Jump Jets" versus "ability to carry Jump Jets" to date, none of them ever will be).
Unless MASC is a "hardpointed" item (like AMS or ECM) and such hardpoints are largely denied to most other 'Mechs (especially the Locust, and to a lesser degree most other Lights), the Flea doesn't really have anything to make it stand out that the Locust doesn't already do.

Because the Flea was supposed to be a stand in for the Locust we couldn't legally have.
But then they finally hashed out the deal and the more famous Locust could be added to the game. So, we now have the Locust and the Flea is redundant.

I've never understood that reasoning either - the Raven was released before ECM started working, and there's an Atlas that comes stock with the (still useless) Command Console.

Without ecm the 3L is a terrible Jenner-D. Lots of our mechs are little more than reskins, I don't see why we'd suddenly play favorites

the concept art is still on the site

MASC is not impossible on the CryEngine, MW:LL already did that, before that MekTek figured it out on the old MW4 engine. PGI's handicap are their own priorities (all over the place).

RIP Flea </3 I so fell in love with the concept art
But I agree it needs to be the only light with MASC to stand out if it ever comes, and there is a flea with JJs but there is a problem its the 15ton variant
FLE-14 Entering production in 2519 the FLE-14 Flea was an attempt to create an ultra-light BattleMech. Weighing a mere fifteen tons, it could arguably be regarded as a different 'Mech design. It was capable of a maximum ground speed of nearly 150km/h, with an average cruising speed near 90km/h. This variant also had a 120 meter jump capability. Its weapons and armor however were very light: Only a ton of armor protected the unit, and the single Medium Laser mounted in the right arm was barely enough to make it a viable battlefield unit. Intended to replace theWasp or Stinger scout 'Mechs, the FLE-14 was definitely quicker but the low armor protection and limited jump range made it vulnerable. In fact, a Small Laser could inflict heavy damage on the unit. As a result it was pulled out of production once its shortcomings were revealed.
