I bought a Logitech G502 Proteus Core mouse today. When I go into the game settings, it will not permit me to make assignments for the various buttons. Am assuming this is some type of problem with the settings screen as I can find no one else who has encountered problems setting up their mouse. Sent in a support ticket to learn if there is something I can do to make it work.
By the way, had the exact same problem when trying to assign settings for a joystick, so this makes me believe the problem is not device oriented, but something wrong with the settings feature.
Anyone have any suggestions short of waiting for a support ticket response?

You mean MWO does not recognize the side buttons of your mouse?
You must go into the logitech gaming software and set each of the side buttons to "Generic Button" in order for MWO to recognize them properly. If set on the default option (eg "Browser Back" / "Browser Forward") it may recognize it, but not reliably.
This has been a bug in MWO since day 1.
That being said, I recommend you do NOT use this solution.
Instead, bind the mouse to the game, not the game to the mouse.
That way, if you ever lose your keybindings (eg due to reinstall of game), the mouse will work as it is mapped to the default keys.
