You load up Natural Point's Track IR software, run the game and automatically profit.

mines all sorted now, I had to update the games profile in tracker, so I now have Mech warrior online showing in tracker software
And I have to say I like it, need to play about with the setting to get it to my taste, But it a good addition to the game

So I guess us DelanClip users won't be able to utilize IR Tracking as the implementation is tied to TrackIR? The release notes mentioned support for TrackIR versions down to 3... which had me hopeful that Freetrack would work. Apparently not...

I'm wondering what this would be used for in game. Looking around the cockpit? It doesn't seem like it would be precise enough for aiming...

Freetrack detects TrackIR support in MWO, MWO detects Freetrack running emulated TrackIR.
From Omicron.log
TrackIRManager: NPClient interface -- initialize OK
TrackIRManager: Window handle registration successful
TrackIRManager: NaturalPoint software version is 4.00
TrackIRManager: Cursor stopped
TrackIRManager: Data transmission started

But I can't get any movement in game. Freelook just moves the arm reticule as it should with TrackIR enabled

I got the same thing - FreeTrackNoIr detects the incoming connection and is talking to the game, but nothing's happening.

Situational awareness. You know--the thing that keeps you from getting killed. :P That's priceless.

I see the point in a flight sim or driving game where there are distinct side or above views, but looking around in MWO only gives you a view of the cockpit interior -- though I've never tried freelook while zoomed in, maybe that's where the benefit comes in ...

ive been using it today and it will take a bit to get used too with duel reticles(arms/torso), but it's nice for that whole situational awareness aspect.

It doesn't affect where your reticles are aimed, just lets you look around. Of course you need a mech with side view or no need for it. Mechs like that are few, but they do exist.
