So, I worked some overtime last week and will have a bit of extra cash... I also just realized I don't even have much of anything to spend it on.

So, assuming I can get a proper refund/purchase going where I only have to pay the difference of my already-pre-ordered pack and the gold mech, should I go with the Kit Fox, Nova or Adder?

Adder was by far my favorite mech in MW3, Nova has been in my top 5 since I fired up Mechwarrior 2 for the very first time, and Kit Fox... Well, it just looks like something a troll would pilot. Plus it has the potential to be a light LRM boat, a poptart (depending on how CERPPCs work that is)...

Leaning toward the Kit Fox right now, but I honestly can't decide - Assuming I do decide to go through with it and throw a brand new PS Vita and 2+ games at it for the sole purpose of its trolling potential (let's not kid ourselves, anyone piloting a gold mech is a target for enemies and friendlies alike... Which is part of why I kind of want one), and I can get a proper refund/upgrade thing worked out (I'm noticing the clan page still only shows 'purchase' for $500 on the gold mechs hint hint whoever runs the page).

That, or I'll just go buy the new prime access in Warframe in 2 days. And get more gold. And have over $100 left over.

In terms of most likely to be viable, Nova seems like the best bet. Adder will probably be better than the Kit Focks, excluding JJ capability.

Blackhawk. The Puma is going to be a little slow for its weight for my taste, same with the Uller. The Blackhawk I have a lot of fond memories of, and I think it has a lot of potential to be beastly if used correctly.

Nova or Kit Fox since they both get jump jets.

You'd probably never run into another person with a golden Adder, though, so there is that.

i know it will have heat problems out the rear and then ghost heat on top of that but the Nova ended up getting me to buy a pack.

i dont care that ill probably blow up the second i do but first thing i do is firing all 12 of the ERML into the back of the nearest enemies (i hope to go its a gold mech)

I doubt I'll run into many people with gold mechs to begin with, not to mention piloting one or showing that scoreboard icon is grounds for a team legging attempt.

And it will be glorious.

Nova with all those energy hardpoints might be fun for a flying dubstep cannon...

The Blackhawk sounds funny as heck. It's the only mech I have any desire to derp around in.

And why is a gold mech a target for friendlies? Cuz they are jealous they didnt buy one?

because most people belive that it will just encourage PGI to create further money grabs while not delivering anything and wasting more money.

they say it takes $250k to develop one map so.....

You answered yourself there. Ph30nix has another good answer.

EDIT - But seriously, loading up a Nova with what, 8 medium pulse lasers, jump jets and just cruising around giving dubstep to everybody? ...Dubstep better be a warhorn. Nova is the most likely candidate now.

im thinking more of leaving the 12 ERML and puting them in 2 groups on chain fire and firing both groups at once.

I had a hankering for leaving just 4 ERML, and replacing the other 8 with ERSL and jamming in 4 more DHS. Those 4 ERML will hit almost as hard as 4 large lasers, and there won't be any ghost heat if they are on the same scale as medium lasers.

Will have to wait and see since there's almost no info available this close to the release date.

Mostly this. ^

I'm also of the belief they'll be used as future tournament prizes so they can "claim" they're giving away $500+ worth of winnings without actually providing anything of tangible substance. If the a-la carte was at least $30 per mech instead of designed to gouge players who don't like the package orders (such as placing the stormcrow way up the list) then I might have reconsidered getting a few at launch (such as all 3 mediums) regardless of the other bugs and issues this game has.

well, buying adder only: 55$ a la carte
buying kit fox 30$ So you saved 25 vs a la carte
buying Nova a la carte: 55$
buying Nova via package: 60$ menaing vs a la carte you get the kit fox too for just 5$ more

So I would ay get Nova package for 60 and take the kit fox with it.

The uller looks very nice, but that would be 55$ for just one mech chassis (weill ok 3, but basically one mech)

So when there is no special reason for you going Uller by he design, go Nova.

Fixed engine sizes may seriously handicap light clan mechs in a tradisional harasser role.

Lacking enough speed to disengage is a death sentence.I see the current options for the lighter clan mechs as leaning towards long range fire support.

By utilizing the lower profile and smaller target size engaging at extreme ranges seems the be where the lower massed clanner mechs may excel.

yea while they will be slower then IS mechs they will have the firepower of heavy mechs so it will probably end up balancing out. Id still prefer the speed but meh.

@ Kassatsu:

You're safe to chose any of those.

Odds are, a few weeks/months after they are released, they will be changed / tweaked / balanced and the same goes for their weapons.

So just buy any of them and "fingers crossed".

Well, support refunded my initial masakari pack in less than a day, then I went and did this:
Posted Image

I figured more people would go for the kit fox over the adder due to the jump jets and similar tonnage for weapons and such, plus I just like the looks of the adder more. Would have gone with the Nova but I wasn't a huge fan of the redesign, even if it is pretty similar to how I remember it looking in MW3 (with the addition of a gyro on the torso anyway).

By the way, I was one of those people crying out about how terrible/silly the gold mechs were when they were announced. I still think that. Worth it to be able to tell people in-game to get a job when they QQ about my shiny.

EDIT: Funny, even with my purchase none of the lower left three show "under 50 remaining". Poor Nova literally has nothing special besides an unusable number of energy hard points over the stormcrow, and the lights... Well, 97kph in a light is kind of not good. Wonder if clans will have the same copy/paste proficiencies, should at least get it to about 106 anyway.

EDIT2: Lol mixing up warhawk/masakari with stormcrow/ryoken.

Puma is basically a BJ-1 without JJs for all intents and purposes. Was never really fond of it in TT or any MW game, though it could be amusing in MW4 with dual ER PPCs. Still.. anything the Puma could do, the ShadowCat could do 50 times better.

Nova gets my vote. It's going to be an absolute beast. Loving the Arrow? The Nova is it's bigger brother. ;)
